"My dad was pissed after!" Connor exclaimed, walking Evelyn to the mystery place he wanted to go to today.
"About you staying out or about you being with me?" Evelyn smiled. They were walking from Connor's house where Evelyn had tried to help Connor convince his dad that Jamie was most likely in trouble and not just running away again.
"Where are you taking me?" Evelyn cocked a brow. "Because, the last few times I've followed friends to mystery places it's ended in either being shot or running for my life, or both."
"It's nothing bad, you've been here before!" Connor assured her.
"Have I?" she asked suspiciously.
Walking down Cedar Way, they made it to Main Street where they crossed over to Thatcher Road.
This route means either my house, Pip's house, or where Jamie is: Stanley's house, Evelyn flipped through each candidate, finding the most likely one: Pip's house.
They slowed down near where Thatcher Road and Beacon Court meet, right outside of Pip's house.
Evelyn turned, staring blankly at Connor.
"Please, Evelyn," Connor begged.
"Why would Pip even need me?"
"Pip wanted to ask you some stuff and she knew I would be the only person who would be able to get you to follow me blindly," Connor admitted, speaking almost too fast for Evelyn to process.
With a couple of knocks on the Fitz-Amobis' door, they had gotten in.
"Just because I heard him say it doesn't mean I know what spelling it is!" Evelyn repeated to Pip.
"I know!" Pip shouted back.
"So what am I here for?" she groaned, rolling herself off of Pip's bed and onto the floor with a loud thud.
"This is impossible," Connor said, following Evelyn's trend of sinking off of things as he slumped in Pip's kitchen chair in her room.
Pip spun in circles at her desk, a list rustling in her hand. "Annoying our catfish chose a name with so many frickin' different spellings." They had been trying different social media platforms to try and find Layla's account, but with no knowledge of the correct spelling let alone the last name they could find much.
"We're never going to find her," Connor said.
Through Connor's complaints, you could barely hear the knock at Pip's bedroom door.
"Go away," Pip said roughly, her eyes focused on an Instagram page pulled up on her computer. The door inched open, revealing a quizzical-looking Ravi.
"Oh, not you," Pip looked away from her computer, a smile growing on her face. "I thought it was Josh again. Sorry. Hi."
"Hi," Ravi said, raising his brows in greeting to Connor, noticing Evelyn lying almost face down on the floor, his brows bunching together. It took him a second to recover, but he made his way to Pip's desk, sitting beside her laptop.
