JUDE
25/04I was mindlessly scrolling through Instagram, but my thumb paused on a story that made my heart skip a beat. There he was Mbappe looking cool, but the real focus was the girl next to him. She was stunning and I couldn't help but think she was way too gorgeous to be hanging out with him.
My eyes narrowed as I noticed her name flash across the screen. It sent a little jolt through me. That spoiled girl, always flaunting her perfect life. Why on earth was she with someone like him? Are they dating or what?
"Ugh, why do I even care?"
I muttered under my breath, but a fierce curiosity stirred inside me.
Before I could think better of it, my finger moved on its own, hovering over the 'follow' button. I knew it was a bad idea,an impulsive choice I'd probably regret later, but the thrill was irresistible.
With a quick tap, I hit 'follow,' and the deed was done. Suddenly, I felt like I did something that I didn't have to.
MARTYNA
I stepped off the plane and was immediately enveloped by the warm Saudi breeze, wrapping around me like a long-lost hug.
"Finally!"
It was like a bottle of soda shaken too long, the fizz bubbling to the surface. My heart raced as pure excitement coursed through my veins. It had been ages since I'd seen dad, Mateo, Alana , Eva and Bella.
Navigating the sleek private terminal, anticipation thrummed in my chest like a live wire. All I could think about was the night ahead. My dad was set to play for Al Nassr, and I couldn't wait to see him dazzle under the stadium lights.
"Are you coming to the game?"
I could still hear his voice, that unmistakable twinkle in his eyes as we chatted over FaceTime."Then after the match, we can have dinner together."
I couldn't help but giggle at the memory, his smile lighting up my phone screen, the warmth of his unwavering support wrapping around me even from thousands of miles away.Once I reached home, I quickly changed into my N7 jersey, the one with his name emblazoned on the back. I glanced in the mirror and grinned. Everything felt perfect, but still, I hadn't seen him yet.
As we arrived at the stadium, energy crackled in the air, igniting every nerve ending in my body. No matter how many times I saw him playing, for me it's always like the first time. The crowd was electric cheering for Al Nassr.
And then, there he was, Cristiano Ronaldo, my dad. To the world, he was a legend adored by millions, but to me, he was simply Papa. An exhilarating mix of pride and excitement surged within me as he stepped onto the field, effortlessly launching himself into a two-meter jump, just like he always do.
Before the game began he lifted his hand, waving and blowing to us a kiss, my smile stretching from ear to ear, feeling his love envelop us despite the distance.
During the break, I was savoring my champagne, when Cris Jr. strolled over, a cheeky grin plastered on his face
"Are you and Kylian dating?" he blurted out, eyes sparkling with curiosity
I nearly choked, the champagne threatening to make an unscheduled exit from my mouth
"No, we don't!" I shot back, flabbergasted.
"Why not?" he pressed, clearly reveling in his role as the inquisitive little brother.
"Because there are a million TikTok videos claiming you two are a couple."
"I think you watch too much TikTok. Kylian is not my boyfriend! You know I don't want to date footballers."
And honestly, that was the truth. Maybe I felt a spark around him,who wouldn't? Kylian was charming, talented, and had that irresistible aura that made hearts race. But dating a footballer? No thanks. My father's life had taught me well: they were always busy, and loyalty wasn't guaranteed, especially not from the younger ones. I could have fun with them, sure, but a relationship? Not with someone from that world.
Cris rolled his eyes
"Oh, come on! He's amazing! One of the best footballers in the world! Plus, you know he idolizes Dad."
I sighed, feeling the weight of the conversation
"I know, but I'm not looking for a relationship, Cris. You know that."
He pouted slightly, but I could see the gears turning in his mind, desperate to play matchmaker
"When I meet the guy who's going to steal my heart, I promise you'll be the first to know"
I teased, a smirk settling on my lips.
Cris grinned back, clearly not ready to drop the subject. But deep down, I knew what I wanted: excitement without the commitment and definitely not with someone who lived life in the fast lane, wearing a jersey.
After the exhilarating win for Al Nassr, I couldn't contain myself. I rushed through the crowd, excitement bubbling over as I spotted him, glowing with triumph and drenched in sweat.
"Papa!"
The sound of my voice barely reached him above the celebration. With a sweeping gaze, he searched for me in the sea of fans. And then, he spotted me.
He scooped me up in a tight, warm embrace, lifting me off my feet
"You made it!"
he exclaimed, planting a tender kiss on my forehead."I wouldn't miss it for the world, not after a month without seeing you playing"
I laughed, my eyes are sparkling with admiration.
"You were amazing, Papa! You always are!""Only because I felt your love, even from the stands."
He says hugging all of us
Recently I understood something profound. No matter where he played or how many fans cheered for him, I would always be his biggest admirer, and he'd forever be my hero. The one who had given me everything, the dad who was also my mom, my guiding star.
In that moment, wrapped in his embrace, with all my brothers and Gio,I knew that there would never be a game big enough to overshadow the love we shared. It was unbreakable, timeless our bond stronger than any trophy or victory.
