'Papa! You're finally home!' Jane grinned at him as he entered the parlor where Jane and Sylvie were having a tea party with all of Jane's dolls. She leaped up out of her chair and ran to him and Rafe obligingly crouched down to receive her hug.

"Oh, poppet, how I've missed you," he peppered her face with adoring kisses. "My sweetest, bravest little Jane."

'I missed you too, Papa! Did you bring me anything from London?'

"Hmmmm," he tapped his chin thoughtfully. "Well, that depends: did you eat all your vegetables when I was away?"

"She did," Sylvie chuckled as she came closer to them. Their eyes met and Rafe felt his knees wobble just a little as he allowed himself to acknowledge how badly he had missed her these weeks that he'd been away. He'd left Carlisle the very night of the attack because time had been of the essence. Once he had noted all the "hide and seek" spots Jane knew, he'd gone on a search and had found Thomas' notes scattered all over his estate and Sylvie's property. Though he still could not understand why Thomas would have endangered his daughter like this, he guessed it was because no one tracking him would think of Jane as being the key to everything. Thomas wouldn't have known that The Major would find the hidden chamber, hence his hint, thanks to Rafe.

But at least it was all over now.

He wanted to make it back to Headquarters and get all his ducks in a row, so that he could control the narrative. He'd promised he'd keep both The Viper and The Widow out of the investigation.  And he'd had to erase all evidence of The Viper's existence from London, along with the special favor of burning down this magnificent house. No questions asked.

"Well in that case perhaps there are some new dolls and books awaiting you in the nursery."

Jane gave an excited squeal and sprinted off. The moment she was out of the door, Raphael lunged for Sylvie. She let out an alarmed scream as he kissed her soundly and then tossed her over his shoulder, bounding up the stairs. He kicked the door to his room open and hurried inside, depositing her on the bed unceremoniously. He kissed her again, hard, and deep, aching with need for her. Aching with how empty he had felt without her. Aching with sheer happiness that she was here.

"I take it you missed me," she giggled as he fought with his waistcoat, practically tearing it and his shirt off his body.

"My letter didn't say that clearly?" He grunted, pulling the laces on the placket of his breeches. He'd sent a note ahead of him when he was a day away.

"Your letter only said: Arriving at noon. Don't wear your drawers and be ready for me."

His breeches fell to the floor, he kicked them away and stepped between her legs, dragging her skirts up her thighs. She laughed and asked him if he wasn't even going to undress her properly, in response, he forced down the bodice of her dress and took her nipple into his mouth.

"Oh my!" She cried, arching her back, offering herself to him.

"No time, Sylvie. I need you too badly. Did you obey me?" He leaned over her, kissing her hungrily again, all while slipping his hand higher up on her thigh, delightfully without any undergarments.

"Mhmmm," she nodded while kissing him. "And because I am very, very good, I even put my preventative in. So, please Rafe, don't make me wait."

"Ah, love, don't say that, I have to make you ready," he groaned as his erection rubbed against the soft skin of her thigh, he wanted so badly to just take what he wanted, deep and swiftly, but never if it caused her pain. He needed to get her nice and wet so that she could take him easily.

She wrapped her legs around his hips, pulling him to her so that he could feel the heat of her quim on the head of his cock.

"Rafe, I have been ready since you sent that blasted letter. Hurry!"
