7 years old Mira's point of view

"Mumma, I don't like to go to school everyday." I say as my mother picks me up in her arms and starts walking towards the talkie.

"Then what do you want to do, Mimi?" My mother asks. As she looked through the movie posters. We always looked at the posters because we never had enough money to see the movie. Only on my birthday and her birthday we would go to the cinema hall to watch a movie. That was our celebration. Other than that we both looked at the Billboards or the posters. Sometimes she'd cut out newspaper articles and pictures and paste it on the wall.

Papa was hardly ever home, he works as a typist for a company far away. He'd send us 300 rupees every month along with a letter and a movie poster for Mumma.

"I'll be a heroine and then we'll be able to watch every movie in the cinema hall. We don't have to look at the posters anymore." I declared. Mumma just laughed beautifully, enough to warm my heart.

"Oh my little Mimi, you always think about me don't you?" She asks. To which I nod. Of course I'd think about her all the time, she is the best person in the world.

Mumma pulled me into a hug as she walked out of the hall carrying me. The sun had started to set and I yawned feeling sleepy. Soon I placed my head on her shoulder and fell asleep in her lap. I'll be the best actress one day!

14 years later.....

"And the Filmfare award for Best Actor Female goes too..... The graceful Miraaaa Singh." The crowd goes wild.

I get up from my sit and walk up to the stage to receive the award. I take the award in my hand and walk towards the mic for my acceptance speech. " Thank you so much to Biswas sir, the director of Geet, for giving me the opportunity to work with you. And I'd also that my Mumma for always supporting me and letting me join the show biz at the age of 20. The seven year old me would have never dreamt of getting a Filmfare award at my debut. So thank you to everyone who trusted me with this role. This means a lot. Also thank you to the audience, everything I did was for you all. And thank you for appreciating it, I hope to perform like this...even better in future."

With that I got off the stage and my Mumma pulled me into a hug. Her eyes were full of tears, so we're mine. But we did it! No more gazing at the posters outside the hall. The Billboards will have my face on it.

My life became a dream since that day. Who could have thought someone from my background would become an overnight sensation. Filmfare, Cineblitz, Movie every magazine had my face on the cover. Newspapers were filled with gossips about me. I enjoyed it all. People loved me. I loved acting. I was the hot topic everywhere. Me and my Mumma, we were living our dreams through me.

Until 2 years later Mumma had a massive heart attack and I lost her. I was in a shooting when it happened. I was the last one to get the news because my phone was with my manager who didn't bother to pick up the call thinking it would create a distraction.

That was the first time in three years I questioned myself if joining the industry was the right decision or not. But it surely wasn't the last.
