Leo's annoyance was clear as the blue sky outside when he made his way to me. Accidentally, I forgot to call him last night. In my defense, after dinner, I fell into a food coma. Which meant, his twenty calls went unanswered and one hundred and five texts left on delivered.
Leo was very protective of me. According to him, I am the closest thing he'll ever get to a sister. So, in other words, he is just like those brothers you would find in lost mafia princesses books on Wattpad. At times it can get really annoying.
“Hi-” I shut up at the sight of his glare.
Leo was sweet and barely ever got angry. But when he does get angry it's like stepping foot inside the lion's den. Sometimes, he's even scarier than my father. “Don't “hi” me. Why the fuck did you ignore me?!”
“Don't shout.” I start off. “I didn't ignore you. I fell into a food coma and fell asleep.” “I explain.
He sighs, leaning against the locker beside us. “I was worried sick! By the way, who was that man?”
“I'm sorry for making you worry. And the man is a business associate with my father. Fred left town for a while so he’s my form of transport for the time being.” Speaking of Fred, he hasn't responded to my text. I'll call him after school.
He nods as the bell rings. “See ya at lunch.”
Luckily, my first class is being held in the lecture hall two doors down from where we were standing. For the first time in a long time, I was one of the first to arrive. This class isn't particularly my favorite so I sit at the back. I placed my laptop on the desk, opening today's lesson.
Unfortunately for me, my father picked all my courses. He even chose the college I go to. The reason being, all my cousins as well as my aunts and uncles came here. I don't mind though. It's not too bad.
I sit up, focusing my attention on the teacher. Once the hall is silent, she begins. “Today will be a little different from our usual class. Instead, a special guest will be giving you all a lecture on the importance of this course. Please welcome, Entrepreneur, Billionaire, professional boxer and owner of one of the largest companies in all of America, Mr. Diavolo.” The hall bursts into applause.
My eyes widen and I choke on spit when Lorenzo walks in the hall. Holy shit.
His fiery gaze finds me right away. His stare doesn't falter as he makes his way onto the tiny stage in front of the hall. “Students.” He nods.
My tiny frame feels even smaller when he refuses to look away. Finally, he looks towards the projector behind him where a presentation was displayed.
I slouch down on my chair, zoning out, while his voice provides background noise. “It is important to have good marketing strategies. That way, your product reaches more consumers. Another thing that's important is good budgeting.”
The lecture drags by slowly and I find myself drifting away. Though, the girl next to me nudges my arm before I manage to embarrass myself by falling head first onto the desk. “That concludes the lecture. I'm sure Mr. Diavolo here, wouldn't mind answering any questions.”
The hall remains silent with not one hand raised. “Okay, you all may leave.”
Those words were the best thing I've ever heard. I place my stuff neatly but quickly, into my bag before rushing out the door. The crowd wasn't bad because most students were chatting amongst themselves.
