03. 𝐄𝐆𝐆𝐒 & 𝐁𝐀𝐂𝐎𝐍

𝐈𝐌𝐀𝐆𝐄𝐒 𝐎𝐅 𝐀 𝐁𝐋𝐎𝐍𝐃𝐄 𝐖𝐎𝐌𝐀𝐍 𝐅𝐋𝐀𝐒𝐇𝐄𝐃 𝐀𝐂𝐑𝐎𝐒𝐒 𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐏𝐇𝐎𝐍𝐄 𝐒𝐂𝐑𝐄𝐄𝐍 as Hen passed around her cell phone to the team. It had been 24 hours since Johana abruptly left the fire station. No one had heard from her and she wasn't picking up any of their calls or texts. Even Buck had tried to reach out.

Hen was worried. She had grown fond of the younger woman over the past couple of weeks. It was nice to have another woman on the team, especially a queer woman. The two had gotten drinks a few times after work or when they were off shift, and Johana had started to open up more to Hen. But Johana hadn't answered any of Hen's texts or calls, and it was starting to worry Hen.

It was clear that Johana's presence was missed. So, Hen took the liberty in showing the team old pictures of Jo and Shay that she found on Jo's Facebook. Hen remembered making fun of her for even having a Facebook, as it seemed it was the only form of social media Johana had.

"They look happy." Buck remarked. He felt guilty, but he didn't know why. There was some pit in his stomach that he couldn't shake.

Eddie smiled softly, passing the phone to Chimney. "I've never seen her smile that big."

It was true. In the few weeks that Johana had been working at the 118, she wasn't very happy. If anything, she was content. She had always struggled with depression, but there were times that she felt genuine joy. She thought coming back to LA would help, but instead she found herself to just be floating along.

Bobby was stressed. Everyone could see it. He hadn't realized it yet, but Johana already meant more to him than he knew. He called her more times than he could count, but of course, no answer.

"I was able to get in contact with her old captain," Bobby told the team as he cooked lunch. "He said the two had a bad breakup and right after, Jo put in for a transfer."

"Bad breakup? How bad are we talking?" Chimney asked.

Bobby shrugged. "He wouldn't give me all the details."

Hen furrowed her brows. "There has to be more to it, right?"

"Yeah, Jo doesn't seem like the type to move half way across the country because of a breakup." Eddie replied.

It wasn't the only reason. It wasn't just the breakup that caused Jo to move back home. No one at the 118 knew why and not even her old team from Chicago knew. She didn't tell anyone.
