Kira didn't respond to the question right away, pouring dark brown liquid into a small blue cup until it was slightly filled to the brim with the sweetness that would cool down any body on the inside from the cold.
"Yeah, thought I'd go somewhere different. Far. New scenery with a new mind and fresh thoughts. Somewhere old me wouldn't even think to go" her figure turned, thick winter black boots thumping against the wooden floor. Each plank was a different shade but the same color, patted down, then painted over with something clear. It was shiny, the ground.
But it was also old. Creaking with each heavy step Kira took before the sound ceased the moment she placed the cup down and slid it toward Nik. Pulling back the chair near her, the bottom of the four legs scraped against the hardwood with a slight creak before her body lowered onto it.
"I'm glad" Kira hummed.
"This house is....small, but cozy. It suits you. And the people seem to love you. But, why on a mountain?" Kira chuckled. Her index finger and thumb mindlessly toying with the edge of the table that looked carved so it wasn't pointy.
"It's high" she shrugged, sitting up properly. "It overlooks the entire village including the one that tried to overthrow this one. On my side, being this high gives me the advantage to see their attack before these people do"
"And the painting?"
"Out of respect"
"And the people behind it are suppose to represent..them?" Kira looked at her.
"When looked at it that way, yes. But really it's suppose to represent wings, if you take a step back" She slowly nodded before looking around.
This was what Kira had been up to all this time. Living ontop of a mountain acting as a guard for the people below who couldn't help themselves. Partaking in their cultural traditions, cooking them meals and cutting down fire wood small enough for the little ones to carry when they would ask to help.
This lifestyle looked good on her, Nik couldn't disagree with that. She liked how Kira looked peaceful, she liked how the woman who's hair was longer then her arm, was now shoulder length. She liked in general of how Kira looked. Her presence no longer being aimed toward anger, the air no longer feeling stuffy from the glares she'd send to people.
It was new to see her like this. Owning a dog when she swore she wasn't an animal person. Nik knew it's been a long time, but she didn't necessarily think Kira would entirely change along with her appearance.
She looked down when she felt a nudge then a heavy presence on her foot. The dog whose name still lies a mystery to her, had lied down by her side with his head resting flat on her foot. Looking up, peering to Kira, the woman who was already looking. Nik opened her mouth.
"I-"
"Nik, what do you want?"
"What makes you think I want something?"
