The Fighting Squad Part 1

Volts POV:

I follow Lunar into the village eager to meet the other members. I'm so excited to see what kind of Pokémon they are. What types they are. I already know ones a crazy strong Lombre. One that is near Lunars level. Still hard to believe but I'd love to see him in action if that's the case! But what about the other two? Who are they? How strong are they? Am I the weakest of the bunch? I have so many questions I need answered!

I'm taken out of my thoughts as we made it to the village and Lunar speaks to me. "Who do you want to meet first? Hula or Trix? After you meet them we can meet Bubbles. He's usually the furthest away training so it's troublesome to look for him first."

"It doesn't matter to me none but if I had to choose I'd say Hula." No reason in particular to meet her first. Just more interesting name.

"Alright she is usually down by the lake so let's head that way." Lunar turns back around to lead the way once more.

I wonder what kind of Pokémon they are. I now know their names but they don't give me any hints! Think! Trix doesn't tell me anything at all from what I know. Hula... like hula hoop? Nah... hula dancer? Hula dancer... dancerrrr. Hula. Dancer. That sounds very famili-! WAIT OF COURSE! It's a Bellossom! The Pokémon that dances like a hula girl!

"Let me guess. Is the first one a Bellosom?" I smile proudly knowing my knowledge and ability to put things together is second to none in the village.

"Nope. It's a Butterfree." Lunar instantly reply's to me.

"WHA-?!" WHY IS A POKEMONS NAME HULA IF IT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH Said POKEMON?!

"Hahahaha. We're here! And there's Hula. HULA! OVER HERE! ITS THE NEW MEMBER OF THE VILLAGE AND FIGHTING SQUAD! I WANT YOU TO MEET HIM!" Lunar yells to a Pokémon who turns to us and starts running. As it gets closer I can make out what Pokémon it was. That was no Butterfree. It was a Bellossom!

"Hey! I thought you said Hula was a Butterfree!" I turn to Lunar who is still facing the running Pokémon.

"Yeah I did. And I lied." Lunar smiles proudly as Hula approaches us.

"I should've known. I'm always right when it comes to these kind of things." I face  back towards Hula as she comes to a halt in front of us. I'm still kinda mad I fell for another trick from Lunar. I'm going to be building a trust issue relationship with him if he keeps this up.

"Hello Lunar! Is this the new member you just talked about? What was his name again Bolt? Nice to meet you finally. I was very curious of you since you became a new member of the village and a member of the fighting squad in the same day through recommendation of Lunar! Quite the first impression I'd say" Hula stares me up and down examining me.

"The name is Volt. And nice to meet you too. How'd you get into the fighting squad?" I'm not going to say it but she doesn't look all that strong. So what was it?

"She did what every member did for trial. Fight and kill an existing member of the fighting squad." Lunar still smiling at Hula no change in emotion.

"That's right! I had to kill my own older sister to join! It wasn't easy she was pretty strong!" Hula says smiling as if this was completely normal.

"Let me guess. Another joke?" No way I'm falling for three of these in one day.

"Hey hey! You're starting to catch on! All she really did was take a trial testing her strength and skills and if she is impressive enough compared to everyone else she can become a member. And she did just that. Not only can she hold her own again most opponents but she also is a healer and can heal injuries!" Lunar says looking like he just went a nostalgia train.

"I have to heal this training freak and Bubbles everyday sometimes multiple times a day depending on how much training they do! I can't even heal the majority of it because it drains my stamina too much! They have to heal the natural way to full health after I do what I can for them!" Hula says annoyed.

"Come on now! Healing is increases your maximum stamina making your healing powers stronger! It's a win-win situation." Lunar says proud of himself he can indirectly help train his fellow partners.

"Yeah yeah but you and Bubbles just end up beating each other up to a bloodier pull every day to where it seems like my healing powers don't get stronger. But I do have to say I can probably heal a broken bone instantly just a few minutes with the powers I have now!" Hula seems proud of herself which she should be bones usually take a very long time to heal and to be able to heal one in just minutes is insane!

"And you have me to thank for that!" Lunar jokingly brags.

Hula charges up an energy ball and sends Lunar 10 feet back with it. "Leave! Next time I won't hold myself back you idiot!" She then goes back to play in the lake.

That was a way stronger move than anything I was expecting! And she was holding back?! No wonder she is a member! I shouldn't judge a book by its cover! I walk over to Lunar to see if he's ok.

"Ouch! Her energy hall has also gotten stronger since I was last hit with it. She ain't no slouch I'll tell you that much!" Lunar gets up and shakes himself off. "Alright now let's go see Trix. She is probably in her and Hulas den."

I nod and follow Lunar. So they share a den then huh? Just like us and Bubbles but we have the abandoned barn instead of a den. "I'm curious. Why are there only 5 members total of the fighting squad, 4 before me? With a village this large I would assume you should have a lot more."

"While your right to assume that our village prefers quality over quantity in our fighters. That and we can't afford to give out too many fighting squad member benefits." Lunar licks his lips as if his mouth was watering.

"What are the benefits?" What can be so good to get a reaction like this from Lunar?

"We get 24/7 access to the berry stash and have no limit on what we eat from it. As well as choosing when we get up and go to sleep as long as we get our responsibilities done. But on another topic another reason I recommend you is because I don't think you're fit enough to pass the physical portion of the fighting squad entree. That's why we start your training first thing tomorrow!" Lunar calmly smiles at me after that like he didn't just insult me.

"What?! I'm more than capable of passing! I've done the gym challenge!" I'm furious he thought such a thing I take pride in my strength.

"Please. Most city Pokémon can't compete with experienced wild ones. You wouldn't stand a chance against our weakest member of the fighting squad which was Hula." Lunar turns and starts walking which I assume is the direction of Trix's den.

I catch up and follow Lunar right next to him instead of following behind. "Would Trix be ok with battling me so I can prove to you I am far stronger than you think?"

"Oh absolutely. Trix loves to battle. Not as much as Bubbles and I but she has a lot of fun doing so. It won't be nearly as easy as you think. But if you want to challenge her do it after we do introductions." Lunar doesn't have the slightest bit of wavering emotion in his tone or expression. I can tell he ain't joking this time.

"Good. I'll do it then." I'll challenge and beat Trix and show Lunar just how wrong he is!
