"..."
I don't know when or how, but I found myself standing in the middle of a ruined night city as the clouds covered the moon in the sky.
Looking around the area, the streets are devoid of any lights, the buildings don't have windows but shattered glass, and the remains are scattered everywhere on the ground. The entrance of each building doesn't have doors, and only the door frame remains.
And the building itself looks like it is about to crumble at any moment.
"I'd better keep my distance."
Not only are the buildings totally ruined, but also the road. The grounds are uneven as multiple cracks run through, the vehicles are turned upside down, and the debris is scattered everywhere.
The entire place is in complete ruins.
I don't know how it happened, and I don't remember any of the events.
But the most notable thing that I noticed is that the entire place doesn't have any signs of life. Even stray animals on the street, and the parasites living in the sewers, don't have a sign either.
"What's going on?" I said. "this place..."
It feels familiar but I don't have a single memory of being here.
I used to be alone but being alone in a city that should've been full of life even at night time? I started to feel anxious.
"Just what happened to this place?"
But nonetheless, I needed to try to calm myself by taking deep breaths.
Even without any idea of any destination in mind, I started walking where my instincts would take me as I looked around just in case for any signs of life.
As I walk around, there really is not a single soul in sight. The cold breeze of the night is the only thing I can feel.
Until I stop walking. I don't know why I stopped walking but when I looked in front of me, I was now right in front of a two-story house.
"This is strange," I told myself. I started to get nervous and my body started shaking.
That most strangest thing I found in this ruined place is this particular house is still intact as if it was purposely avoided by whatever disaster that happened in this place.
But nonetheless.
"Hello? ...Is anyone in there?" I decided to call out if there was someone inside the house hoping if there is someone in this place.
But after waiting for a few moments, no one responded, so I called out again, "Hello!?"
I know that 'patience is a virtue', and I know that it's rude to barge inside someone's house especially when you don't even know who the owner is but I'm starting to lose my patience to stand around and do nothing.
Plus...
I look at my surroundings.
"This place is in complete ruins and I feel like I'm in an apocalyptic world so just your morals won't save you any longer."
I steeled my resolve and walked towards the door of the house. When I reach the front door, I grab the doorknob.
Suddenly, I froze on the spot. I can feel a shiver run down my spine.
The entire place is in complete ruins devoid of any life but that doesn't mean time has stopped.
It's understandable that I didn't notice it earlier because it was covered.
