It'd be nice if Danielle's house became the default hang out spot, rather than Yunjin's apartment. The Vespucci shoreline is visible through the westward windows, there's a sweet dog that loves to keep guests company, and the ocean fills the silence that passing cars do in Vinewood. Danielle had a wonderful rest last night, sleeping crammed against the wall while Hanni and Yunjin took up all the space and the entire blanket. Now, Danielle gets to take in this beautiful performance in her kitchen while she prepares breakfast for herself and company; three smoothie bowls. It's only the seventh time in twenty four hours that Hanni sings "Call Me Maybe" by Carly Rae Jepsen. Yunjin hypes Hanni every time with the enthusiasm of a sports coach. Danielle is proud as well, she's so delighted to see her best friends doing something productive with their lives. You know, signing up for Fame or Shame. Sure, one can argue that because Hanni has a job, she's been a functioning member of society. But, working three or four days a week and spending the rest getting drunk and having sex with the girl she's been unhealthily attached to since way before she even knew her in real life.. isn't much for Hanni to stand on. Danielle is happy for her, she thinks. Hanni is definitely in love, or something like that.
After breakfast, Danielle showed her friends the workout routine she's been dedicated to since fifteen, watched them give up after a solid ten minutes out of her allotted thirty, then used the quiet time she was offered while her friends showered to imagine how her first year of uni will go, starting in August. It's hard to imagine surviving Los Santos University without Yunjin (dropout) and Hanni (delusional) by her side. But, that doesn't matter right now. There's one thing to celebrate, and it's that Hanni and Yunjin have been including her in their plans way more this year. Today, she gets to tag along on their shopping trip with Minji and one of her bandmates, so she's pretty psyched for that. It'll give her a chance to practise making new friends too, though she should bear no self-doubt in that department.
The closet in Danielle's bedroom has been ransacked, violated, griefed. But her friends think their findings are pretty cute. Hanni likes this tank top and grey sweatpants combo. She's also wearing a hat over a bandana, a look she's never tried before. Both are black, just like the tank top. Yunjin likes this LS Panic basketball jersey that's yellow and purple, and these big, distressed grey jeans. Danielle thinks that her friends are absolutely gorgeous in her clothes, so she reminds them that they can't take her things home. And that they need to clean up the mess they spawned in her room or else she's locking them in the house and hanging out with Minji and whoever else by herself.
Around noon, the van horn beeps from the street in a silly little rhythm, like how a friend knocks on a door. Or, your mother when she's sorry for beating your ass and she's bringing a bowl of fruit so you stop crying.
"They're here!" Hanni squeals and slides on her socks from where she was sitting, skips out Danielle's bedroom door and she's running through the house. She makes quick work of running down the cantilever stairs to the front door, shoving her feet in her sneakers and running to the van.
There's no cars on the street, but Hanni doesn't know that. She looked neither left nor right when she ran around the front side of the van to the passenger door to greet Minji. The door handle doesn't budge when Hanni pulls it, and Minji's hand trembles while she feels around the inside of the door, so hurried to open it. All she can see is Hanni jumping up and down and grinning like an idiot, and she can't help but smile too. She must've missed her more than she thought, seeing her in the flesh is much more exciting than imagining or dreaming of her.
Minji slowly pushes open the door so Hanni can give her space. She barely gets that, or the chance to stand on both feet.
Hanni dashes forward into Minji, wrapping her arms around her torso underneath the oversized flannel. It's a hard hug, a warm one, and Minji hadn't expected it at all, so she nearly stumbled back into the passenger seat.
