CRUSHER
CHAPTER TWOSURPRISINGLY ART WAS ACTUALLY FUN TO BE AROUND. Both him and Patrick were actually interesting and once Patrick got over his fear of her, they actually got along really well. Lorelai found it bewildering that they were the two people she gravitated towards the most but at the party they had lots of fun.
After Art got Lorelai her drink and found Patrick to make sure he wasn't face down in the pool or anything, they engaged in a healthy game of beer pong which Art and Patrick began to realise that no sport with Lorelai could ever be considered healthy. However, they also realised she was far better to have on your team than against you because she was responsible for the four wins they got before the other side admitted defeat.
Art naturally began spending more time with Lorelai since Patrick was in and out of school and he had no other friends.
Art and Lorelai's personalities actually bounced well off each other. He challenged her in a way that an athlete likes to be challenged and she humbled his obnoxious attitude.
A month into college and Lorelai had found her place at Stanford. She was a successful student, athlete, and teammate. She had a good group of friends around her but the person she always found herself gravitating towards was Art.
Lorelai and Art had decided to meet for lunch which was a habit they had found themselves getting into every day.
Lorelai had gotten herself a tray of vegetables, carbs and protein to fuel for the day but Art had only gotten himself a bottle of water that he was using to rest his chin.
"What's wrong with you?" Lorelai asked between bites.
"Nothing." Art answered in a sombre tone.
Lorelai rolled her eyes. "There's something and it's ruining my lunch."
Art sighed. He wasn't one to confide in anyone but Lorelai had a trustworthy quality. She lacked empathy for many issues but once it was out there, her lips were sealed. "It's just- you know Tashi Duncan?"
Was he serious? Lorelai gestured to the Tashi Duncan banners decorating the cafeteria. "It's kind of hard not to."
"She's dating Patrick."
"Good for him." She answered . She looked up from her meal. Art's expression disagreed. "Not good for him?" She guessed. She read his expression again. It wasn't sad, it was heartbroken, irritated. Lorelai realised. "Ah not good for you."
"What are you talking about?" Art asked in denial.
"Oh so you're not in love with Tashi, my bad." Lorelai said in a pure teasing manner. That was the beauty of their relationship. They bounced off each other so well and seemed to know each other extensively for two people who only met a month ago.
