the strong cooling wind from the wavering unlit water below the hangang bridge lifted jennie's hair away from her face. the trek of tears dried on her face as mingyu carried her on his back still.
the lights from the city landscape didn't shine as much as the lights flashing from the park's dome ahead of them. their face switched in colors of purples and blues as he got closer.
for almost thirty minutes now, mingyu didn't know where he could take her since he didn't know where she lived and he lost his group of friends at the club. he decided the most convenient way for them was to stop by the hangang dome, which was quiet and away from people.
"where is this?" she finally mumbled from behind him, rubbing her eyes clear as she had awakened from the cool breeze of wind on her leg.
"hangang's dome," he responded, turning his head to the side, his cheek slightly touching her face.
the moment her eyes darted past him to the front, it lit up fondly to the lights shining like the galaxy. it was from the dome about six feet in front of them.
he lowered his back and she immediately got off without worrying about who him. he flashed a smallish smile and stood up on his feet, it was bold for her to not question his identity knowing they were completely strangers.
she was a bit shorter than him, her head barely passing his shoulder height. she admired the place and didn't see him coming. he leaned forward and down to admire her big cheeky smile, "that looks better on you!" he complimented her after he had seen her cry earlier.
"what?" she turned to mingyu and that's when her foot fell a bit away. she was so drifted away by the color of the lights on the dome that she forgot about him being there.
she observed him and although he didn't look like a bad person, she didn't know what kind of person he was or his intention of carrying her for this long.
all she could recall was her drinking with chungha and then tripping into someone's arm and finding some comfort on someone's back. the rest was entirely erased.
"mingyu. jung mingyu," he extended his arms out with a fist waiting for her to fist bump him back but her reaction was not what he had expected.
after seeing her bag around his other arm, she immediately clutched her bag and started walking away, "i'm sorry, i have to go—"
"at least let me have a name? i carried you all the way here you know?" he blurted for her to abide.
she looked around the quiet park, he could be someone with motives, and then back to him, but she felt a bit ashamed and apologetic for him carrying her all the way here. it wouldn't hurt to just give her name away.
"kim jennie,"
"you're from the kim's? a jackpot, they're just as rich as the jeon and jung but over the years less and fewer people talk about them due to their downfall in the economic systems,"she furrowed her brows at his wrong interpretations of who she was, he must have thought she was from a high-status family, "i'm from the gurye countryside," she continued marching away from him, regretting it immediately.
he shot up half a smile and skipped right after. he was in front of her again but walking backward to catch her face, "gurye countryside? what is it like there? does your family live there? can you take me there with you? do you—"
"you're asking a lot for someone who doesn't even know me," she interrupted wishing he'd stop following her. but the keen shout made the alcohol in her system kick in causing her to quickly squat down retaining her forehead.
likewise, he squatted and smiled next to her, crossing his arms on his knees, glaring at her like a golden retriever, "can't we get to know each other? i think you're very appealing!"
