It all started in the high up mountains there was a cursed man with sharp claws, huge fangs, a body made of mist, glowing red eyes, and horns at least three feet tall, sleeping like he did since the day he got cursed until there was the sound of two hundred soldiers drawing their swords for a battle that they could not win, that awoke the beast. The two kingdoms only separated by the tall mountains were at war as they blamed each other for the princesses from both kings that went missing. The cursed man's curse grew stronger thanks to the hatred the kingdoms had for each other, the strongest hatred came from the kings, their hatred came from the vanishing of their daughters. Ever since the cursed man was awakened, his curse grew stronger and it is said that on this year's great blue moon his curse will either be broken or become permanent.

I was walking to the giant stone castle which had an orphanage section ever since this kingdom's princess went missing. As I entered the building I noticed everyone getting prepared for a party with a big banner saying; "Happy adoption!" "What's going on?" I questioned curiously. "There's the lucky boy!" Margaret the short and slightly stiff builded halfling woman who took care of me for almost my whole life said in a happy tone like always. "Guess what Wyot you are being adopted. Isn't that wonderful?" She continued enthusiastically. "WAIT WHAT BY WHO?!" I reacted in an almost startled way unsure if this was a good thing as I never met the person or people that would adopt me, I was naturally scared that I would be placed with an abusive family. "You seem concerned, I thought this is what you wanted your whole life, isn't it?" She said whilst making an unhappy face at my scared response. I was silent, this WAS what I had always wanted: a loving family who would teach me all kinds of awesome things, things I wouldn't want to try by myself like use a weapon or ride a horse. "I-I don't know what I want any more I mean what if they're unkind or just want a child to clean the house?" "Wyot, I met the guy that wants to adopt you, I've known him my entire life, In fact he's the kindest and most adventurous person I know, so I think you'll be alright." "I guess you're right I worry too much, I tend to overthink these things and as you always said it's unfair to judge someone before meeting them." I gave a smile to hide my ever-growing worries. Is this guy really gonna be as nice as Margret says he is? I questioned in my head.

Later at night I laid awake, tomorrow was the big day, I would meet this random stranger that wanted to adopt me for no distinct reason. I sighed deeply as I stood up from my bed to drink some water, afterwards I went to lay back in my bed for a restless night that I passed by sitting in the windowsill and staring at the stars.

I was greeted in the morning with the smell of coffee and freshly made soup. "Smells nice, doesn't it?" a short girl about my age with short brown hair with pink tips and bruises all over, called Allura said. Allura had been my best friend ever since I became an orphan which was when I was an infant so I've basically known her my whole life, she was Margret's daughter so she was always in the orphanage. "It sure does." I replied with a tired voice. "Well, I hope it's as good as it smells then I made it this morning. By the sound of it you didn't sleep well so you'll need a good breakfast. It's an important day after all." Margret said as she came out of the kitchen. "I guess you're right I didn't sleep at all last night." Just as I finished talking, I noticed that Allura got me a bowl of soup and some coffee. "Thanks, Allura." I said as she put my food on the table in front of me. "It's what friends are for." She responded with the biggest smile she's had in a while. I devoured the soup as if I hadn't eaten in millennia. "Well, what do you think?" Margret asked with a smile as I finished my soup. "It's awesome, the best I've ever had!" I answered with excitement. "Wonderful, now you should probably get dressed and get your things, okay?" "Alright, Allura, could you help me choose an outfit and pack my bags?" "Sure, I don't have anything else to do anyways so why not." Allura was never busy with anything, so she was always eager to help anyone who needed it even if it was with something stupid, this made me like her... as a friend of course, i've never been in love with a girl before or with anyone for that matter. "How about you wear a green blouse, brown pants and your boots." Allura spoke and kut through my thoughts. "What about my hair?" it took Allura until we were at the door to my room to think of an answer. "How about a ponytail? It shows off your undercut." She said joyfully. After getting dressed and packing my things I walked with nerves to the room where I was about to meet my new father. When I opened the door, I heard a heavy but kind voice that reminded me of how fighter's seem scary but tend to be really nice. "Ah you must be Wyot, it's a pleasure to meet you." The man shook my hand with a firm grip which was a surprise because he didn't look all that strong. He had deep brown hair and dark blue eyes. "My name is Fabian Forester. I hope you are ready for an exciting day, I mostly just wanted to get you settled in and after that we can do whatever you like." Fabian spoke with an enthusiastic voice as I grew the biggest smile I had had in my life. "How about... a nice calm walk through the forest?" I asked nervously hoping that he'd agree. "Alright." I got a simple answer from the simple man, it wasn't that much of a surprise to me though. " Let's go then." Fabian spoke as he opened the door to take me to where I would be living for the foreseeable future.

When we entered Fabian's small home next to the forest I noticed that it was incredibly clean. There was a small couch just about big enough for three people with a fancy rug beneath it, the house had forest-like vibes and I felt bigger in this small house. "Let me show you to your new room Wyot, It's right around this corner." As my new father showed me to my new room I noticed that there were a few weapons and books lying around. He must be some sort of fighter or ranger. I remember thinking. Upon entering my new room, I saw an oak bed with green bedding, a blue rug with stars, oak side tables, an oak bookcase though it was small, a closet and a few forest related decorations. "

Wow, this room is... Awesome!" I exclaimed with joy having never seen a room more perfect for me. "Glad you like it; it took a while but gladly Margret told me your interests." Of course, she told him it might be mandatory to do so, or she just talked a lot about me. I am one of the most social of the kids in the orphanage. I thought as I put my stuff away. "You wanted to go to the forest right, let's go." Fabian spoke with a kind smile. Looking back I didn't have anything to be scared of, Fabian is a kind and caring man, I can see it in his eyes. As we walked through the woods I noticed nothing special besides a dark path that we walked past without hesitation. When looking at this pathway I got chills down my spine, but I decided to not ask about the path which in hindsight was a bad idea. We walked and talked for about an hour until we reached a waterfall. Fabian sat down on a conveniently placed log that had a small layer of moss that made it surprisingly comfortable to sit. "Have you ever tried to climb something like that Wyot?" He asked me with adventure in his voice. "No I haven't." I responded, I was getting excited about doing dangerous stuff like this. "Well then I'll just have to teach you how it's done don't I?" Fabian stood up and walked towards the wet rocks that held the waterfall. He took a rock, hoisted himself up and started climbing. When I tried to do the same thing, I slipped on the wet rocks. I tried a couple more times before deciding that I wasn't strong enough to hoist myself up like Fabian had done before me. "Did you decide to give up?" The question sounded ridiculous, I had not given up on anything before in my life... besides maybe chores. Why start now? "Is there any chance we can do this more often so I can get better?" I asked with determination. "Sure kid, want to walk home? It's getting dark." As we were walking back the side path drew my attention again, this time I asked Fabian about it but all he got was: "You'll know when the times are right, for now just don't go down that path, ok?" Fabian sounded mysterious when he spoke of the path, I just nodded and we walked to the house in silence with Fabian picking some fruit, vegetables, and spices on the way there that he later used to make a wonderful dinner that made me feel like any tiredness or wounds from my climbing attempt just disappeared, this man was a wizard in the kitchen.
