The walk, and Dragonstone —-
"It bothers you, does it not?"
The question from Rhaenys had brought Daenys away from watching the figures of Viserys and Laena walk through the very same gardens that herself and her brother walked through just the day before, and brought her back to the small circle of watchers. The circle included Rhaenys, Daenys, and Rhaenyra. Though the question did not require an answer or any involvement from herself, Daenys still paid some mind to what was being said between her niece and her cousin, whilst also keeping a watchful eye over her brother and her cousin's daughter.
"My father is a King, it is his duty to take a new wife and strengthen his line"
"I did not ask for a lesson in politics, I asked whether this bothers you"Daenys watched as the little Lady Laena and the King turn toward each other then, and she wondered for a moment what they were talking of, she thought back to the previous night and how the supper was happy and frivolous, how she had danced with the family of her cousin as she would've done her own. She saw the happiness in Laena's face last night, and hoped that she would still have it - no matter the outcome of Viserys' choice. Yet behind her, the conversation between the heir passed over and the heir just named so continued on.
"Laena is your daughter, Princess. Does it bother you?"
"Of course it does. But I understand the order of things, I'm not sure that you do"
"If you mean to elicit some anger from me, you should know that you're failing, Princess"Viserys and Laena continued their walk, that much Daenys could guess at, but she could see no more. Despite the beauty of her lilac and lavender eyes that contained flecks of violet, indigo, and gold, they did not grant her the ability to see through shrubs and tree leaves. At this, Daenys turned and leant on the side of the mezzanine. She faced the two princesses, fully interested in their talk.
"Quite the opposite. Whether it is to my daughter or someone else's, your father will remarry sooner or later. His wife will produce new heirs, and chances are better than not one of those heirs will be male. When that boy comes to age, and your father has passed, the men of the realm will expect him to be heir. Not you, because that is the order of things"
Daenys reached to hold her niece's hand, despite knowing she most likely would shrug her off, but wishing to show her that she would remain in solidarity with her no matter what may come. As predicted, Rhaenyra did shrug off her aunt's hand - but smiled at her before responding to the suggestions of Rhaenys.
"When I'm Queen, I will create a new order of things"
"How I wish that could be, Rhaenyra. But the men of the realm already had their opportunity to appoint a ruling queen at the great council and they denied it"Daenys looked toward the direction of Blackwater Bay at the mention of the great council, as she remembered how the rightful ruler was passed over and she remembered her anger at the passage of the crown from her uncle Aemon's line to her fathers, despite how that never would've happened had her uncle survived Tarth. She loved her brother, and her loyalty was securely in the hands of Viserys - but he wasn't the rightful ruler. Still, Rhaenyra responded to Rhaenys. Whilst she did, Daenys spotted Viserys and Laena come back into sight.
