Play With Fire: Chapter Nine
The arrival of Lord Stark and the first small council, of which Daenys was an attendant--
112 AL, King's Landing
Daenys stood next to Rhaenyra on the docks of King's Landing. The aunt and neice stood side by side, their silver-gold locks flowing in the breeze brought by Blackwater Bay. They were awaiting the naval procession of The North, they had spied the arrival of the fleet from above the skies of King's Landing on their daily flight. Daenys twiddled with the skirt of her light blue dress, before grasping the hand of her niece. She was nervous, the elder Targaryen woman had not seen her husband or children in what felt like an age - yet it was only a moon.
The Targaryen duo waited, as the fleet pushed into the docks.
They waited as the fleet anchored in the bay, the two Stark ships on either side of the branch that Daenys and Rhaenyra were stood infront of.
They stopped waiting when the passengers alighted.
Without all care for status, the Targaryen princesses rushed towards the Stark ladies. Elaena and Elya rushed into their mother's arms, whilst Lyarra launched herself into Rhaenyra's. Whilst encasing her daughter's in her arms, Daenys noticed the dry tears in their eyes and the sullen looks on their faces. Pulling back, she questioned her daughter's with a concerned tone. "My darlings, what ever is the matter?" All three of the Stark girls burst into further tears and sorrow at their mother's question. Daenys only noticed the abscence of Rickon at that point, and a touch of fear entered her system and dozens of panicked questions ran through her mind. All came and went without true answer.
The people's princess stepped past her sorrow-filled daughters, and went to make a move on to the same ship they had embarked from. She made it to the wooden plank that was use for the alighting of passengers, before being stopped by Elara Mormont of her husband's guard. "My Lady, you must not enter the ship. Lord Stark has taken sick, Maester Reynard of White Harbour has urged that none come into contact with him". Daenys was shocked at the news given to her by the Mormont guard. The princess turned pale; in all the years she had been married to the Stark man, he had never once taken ill.
Taking a deep breath, Daenys spoke her next words in trepidation, questioning the young woman before her. "Did-did Maester Reynard give any inclination of what my lord husband has taken ill with?", Elara hestitated before shaking her head. "No, my lady. I will have someone send for you the minute he does. As myself, and ten of Lord Rickon's best guards are to stay here and guard Lord Stark, the rest of the guards will accompany yourself and the young she-wolfs to the keep". Daenys nodded her head in understanding, retreating from her position and walking back to her daughters and neice. Looking up at their mother returning; Lyarra, Elaena and Elya unlatched themselves from the arms of Rhaenyra and themselves. They stared at their mother as she spoke, "Lady Elara told me that your father has taken ill. None of us are permitted to see him until his illness has cleared, so with that, we are to take up residence in our quarters in the Red Keep and continue on, until the maester travelling from White Harbour send word of your father's condition". The girls looked at each other then at their mother, their gazes increased tenfold with worry at the news their mother gave them.
