After throwing on a comfortable white sundress with pink flowers, Sylvie ventured back downstairs and into the dining room where she found her family already sitting around the table.

She took the empty seat between her father and Kayce giving them both a smile before Gator brought out the food and placed it on the table.

"Wow, you really did make my favorite! Thanks Gator!" Sylvie kissed his cheek making the older man blush

"Anytime Ms. Sylvie." Gator stuttered before going back into the kitchen

The spread was delicious looking, grilled lemon pepper chicken, with campfire potatoes, green beans, and dinner rolls.

Sylvie wasted no time in filling her plate, much to everyone's amusement since she was the smallest one there. Dinner went by quickly, conversation wasn't big which wasn't unusual since everyone normally kept to themselves.

Unless Beth and Jamie found something to argue about.

When he noticed Sylvie's plate was clean, John cleared his throat gaining everyone's attention. The Dutton patriarch glanced at Beth who took a deep breath but nodded, before he turned to the unsuspecting 17 year old.

"Sylvie, sweetheart. There is actually something more to this dinner, something that we wanted to talk to you about." John broke the silence

Sylvie furrowed her brows in confusion, looking between her family for any sign of what they could want to talk about but was just met with nervous looks.

"I'm not in trouble am I? Because it was most likely Chloe's idea, not mine. I just get dragged into it because I don't want her to do something that'll land her in prison." Sylvie stuttered nervously making Lee chuckle but wince when Beth elbowed him

"No, honey you're not in trouble." John shook his head in amusement before his expression became more serious. "It's about where you came from, your birth parents."

Sylvie sat up more in her chair at her father's words, never before had she ever really mentioned anything about her birth parents. She wasn't all that curious about them, like yes, she does wonder about them sometimes but she's fully content with the life she has now.

"What about them?" Sylvie frowned

"They were teenagers and were scared about what having a baby would mean. Afraid they wouldn't be able to take care of you because of their own pasts, so I offered to raise you and love you as my own. A decision that I have never been more sure about in my life." John paused for a moment like he was trying to collect his thoughts. "Your birth parents have always been a part of your life, Sylvie. You just never realized it."
