10: Mixed Signals

Eun Ae's POV:

Jake and Niki were sitting across from me, chatting about something I couldn't even remember. My thoughts kept drifting to Niki, and my mind replayed the conversation I'd overheard at the convenience store. The memory of his words made my heart flutter.

To break the tension, I suggested, "Hey, do you guys want to go to Lotte World? It's not too far, only about a 30-minute cab ride."

Jake's face lit up. "Sure, that sounds fun!" he said.

Niki just nodded, his expression unreadable. We hailed a cab, and I ended up sitting on the left side, Niki in the middle, and Jake on the right. My skirt made me uncomfortable, and as I adjusted my position, Niki's hand brushed my thigh. 

I froze my heart racing, and glanced at Niki, who looked just as shocked. I quickly looked away, feeling my face heat up, and scooted a bit farther from him. The touch had stirred something inside me that I couldn't quite explain.

When we arrived at Lotte World, we decided to get some headbands. I picked out matching ones for all of us. Niki looked surprisingly cute with his on, and Jake was laughing and making jokes. I giggled at the sight, and Niki caught my eye with a smirk. I quickly looked away, unsure of how to handle the situation.

We spent the day enjoying the rides and eating cotton candy, but by 5:30 pm, it was time to head back. On the cab ride home, I ended up next to Niki again. Exhausted from the day's activities, I dozed off.

When I woke up, I found myself in my dorm room, feeling confused and tired. How did I get here? I walked out to the living area and saw Niki sleeping on the couch. He looked peaceful, and I couldn't help but admire him for a moment.

Suddenly, Niki's voice startled me. "Are you done checking me out?" he asked, his eyes still closed. Before I could react, he grabbed my arm and pulled me onto his lap. I sat there, stunned and blushing furiously.

He smirked, "Eun Ae, you don't know what you did to me today."

I tried to stand up, but his arm tightened around my waist. My stomach was in knots, butterflies going wild. "Niki, you have to go to your dorm now. It's already 1:00 am," I said, checking the time.

He sighed. "I can't. It's too late, and Jay is probably asleep."

I hesitated but then said, "Fine, you can sleep on the couch and leave tomorrow. We have class anyway." I went to take a shower and changed into my pajamas. When I checked on Niki, he was already asleep. I covered him with a blanket and went to my room.

The next morning, my alarm woke me, and I felt something hard in front of me. It wasn't my pillow. I opened my eyes to find Niki sleeping next to me. I jumped up, startled, and Niki rubbed his eyes, looking sleepy.

"What happened?" he asked, still half-asleep.

"You were sleeping with me!" I exclaimed.

He smirked. "I fell off the couch and decided to sleep next to you. I even put a pillow between us, but you crossed the line."

Mortified, I ran out of the room to get a glass of water and process everything. When I returned to my room, I saw Niki with a towel slung low on his hips, showing off his abs. I stood there, shocked and flustered.

He cleared his throat, snapping me back to reality. "You like what you see, Eun Ae?" he teased.

"No!" I stammered, turning and walking out of the room quickly.

All I knew was this was going to be a long day.......
