As l sat on the edge of our bed, staring at the small plastic stick in my hand, my mind raced with a whirlwind of emotions. The room felt still, the only sound the soft ticking of the clock on the wall. I had taken the test on a whim, a feeling in her gut prompting her to check, and now, staring at the two pink lines, she couldn't believe it.
"I'm pregnant," I whispered to myself, the words feeling both surreal and exhilarating.
Heart racing, I hurried downstairs to find Eric, who was making breakfast in the kitchen. He looked up as she entered, his smile widening at the sight of her.
"What's up?" he asked, flipping a pancake with practiced ease.
I took a deep breath, unable to contain my excitement any longer. "Eric, I think... not, I'm pregnant" I blurted out, her voice trembling with emotion.
Eric's eyes widened in surprise, the spatula frozen mid-air. "Are you serious?" he asked, a mix of disbelief and joy spreading across his face.
I nodded vigorously, my own smile matching his. "I took a test this morning. Two pink lines."
We hugged with happy tears as they're falling through our eyes. The next few weeks were a blur of anticipation and planning. We scheduled our first prenatal appointment, where we nervously held hands as the doctor confirmed the pregnancy with a warm smile.
"You're seven weeks pregnant, and there's something else," the doctor said, eyes twinkling mischievously. "You're not just expecting one baby..."
We both exchanged a puzzled glance, our hearts racing with a new wave of emotion.
"...you're expecting twins!"
The room seemed to spin for a moment as the news sank in. Twins. Two little miracles growing inside me
"T-twins?" Hazel stammered, my eyes wide with wonder.
The doctor nodded, explaining the details of the pregnancy and offering reassurance. Eric squeezed my hand tightly, overwhelmed with happy and excitement. We listened to the rapid heartbeat of our babies on the ultrasound, tears of joy streaming down our faces.
Leaving the doctor's office, we walked hand in hand, their hearts full of dreams for our growing family. We couldn't wait to share the news with our parents, to prepare the nursery, and to welcome our twins into the world.
Back home, we sat together on the couch, basking in the glow of the day's revelations. I leaned against Eric's shoulder, my hand resting on her belly where their babies were growing. We talked about names, imagined what our children would be like, and shared hopes and dreams for their future as parents.
"I can't believe we're going to have twins," Eric whispered, his voice filled with awe.
Eric kissed my forehead gently, his heart bursting with lov and pressing his hand over on my belly. "But I can't think of anyone else I'd rather go on this incredible journey with."
As we sat in quiet contemplation, the sun dipped below the horizon, casting a warm glow over our home. In that moment, we both knew that their lives were about to change in the most beautiful and profound way possible. We were ready for this new adventure, ready to embrace parenthood with all its challenges and joys. With a sense of wonder and anticipation, we looked forward to the day when we would hold our babies in our arms for the first time.
