Three years had flown by in a whirlwind of diapers, late-night feedings, and endless giggles. Eric couldn't believe how much life had changed since the birth of our twins, Lily and Oliver. Each day was a new adventure filled with surprises, challenges, and heartwarming moments that made everything worthwhile.
One sunny Saturday morning, Eric found himself in the backyard with Lily and Oliver, pushing them on the swings under the shade of an old oak tree. Their laughter filled the air as they squealed with delight, their tiny feet kicking in the air. Eric couldn't help but smile at the simple joy radiating from their faces.
"Higher, Daddy, higher!" Oliver called out, gripping the chains of his swing tightly.
Eric chuckled softly, giving them a gentle push. "Hold on tight, buddy!"
Beside him, Lily clapped her hands in excitement, her curls bouncing with each swing. "Wee! I'm flying!"
As the morning wore on, they moved to the sandbox where Eric helped them build towering sandcastles complete with moats and seashell decorations. Lily insisted on adding a "magic princess tower" to her castle, while Oliver crafted a "dinosaur cave" with his favorite toy dinosaurs peeking out from the sand.
"Look, Daddy!" Oliver exclaimed, holding up a handful of shells. "Treasure!"
Eric played along, his heart swelling with pride at their creativity and curiosity. He couldn't believe how much they had grown and how quickly they were learning about the world around them.
Later that afternoon, Eric set up a makeshift obstacle course in the living room using pillows, cushions, and blankets. Lily and Oliver squealed with excitement as they crawled through tunnels, jumped over "rivers," and balanced on makeshift bridges. They cheered each other on with infectious enthusiasm, their laughter echoing through the house.
"Go, Lily, go!" Eric cheered, clapping his hands as she tackled the final obstacle-a pile of cushions.
Lily giggled, her face flushed with excitement. "I did it, Daddy!"
"You sure did, sweetheart," Eric replied, scooping her up into his arms and showering her with kisses.
With a smile on his face and warmth in his heart, Eric came to myside and kissed on my forehead, and says 'I love you Hazel, with all my heart. Thank you for everything. Thank you for giving us a second chance."
I hugged him tightly. My heart was full. This is what I wanted. A life with him. A life for all four us!
