"Y/N come here and help me unpack my stuff!" Your mom shouts from downstairs, her voice echoing through the empty halls of your new home.
You groan, already overwhelmed by the mountain of boxes in your room. "But mom, I still have to unpack my stuff!" You shout back, frustration lacing your voice.
As you rummage through a particularly dusty box, you find your old journal. The edges are worn, and the cover so faded, but it still holds a special place in your heart.
You wipe off the dust and open it, a smile spreading across your face as you see a picture of your childhood best friend, Hanni. The memories flood back, momentarily distracting you from the chaos around you.
"Y/N, I swear to god—" Your mom's voice cuts through your reverie.
You roll your eyes, reluctantly closing the journal and setting it aside. "Coming!" You call out, dragging yourself downstairs.
The new neighbourhood is a stark contrast to your old one, bustling with cars, shops, and people. It's all so new and overwhelming, and despite the grandeur of your new home, money is still tight.
You find your mom carefully unpacking her favourite dish ware, a look of concentration on her face. You crouch down beside her, trying to be helpful.
"Hi, where's dad?" You ask, glancing around the room cluttered with boxes. The house is spacious, with two floors, two bedrooms, a large kitchen, and a sprawling living room. It's the house of your dream, yet it feels oddly empty.
"He went to work." She replies, sighing as she straightens up and moves to another box.
"Already? We just moved here yesterday.." You say, your surprise evident. You start pulling out the items out of a box, trying to make the living room look somewhat presentable while your mom focuses on the kitchen. Decoration has always been a shared passion.
"We aren't rich, honey. Of course, he's already working. And besides," She murmurs, pausing her task to give you a small, hopeful smile.
"Why not find a part time job? Who knows, you might find a rich guy who will fall in love with you and spoil you with gifts and affection—"You cut her off with a look of disbelief. "Mom, seriously?" You ask, shaking your head in amusement. "I'm not looking for a sugar daddy. I just want to get settled in and maybe make some friends." You state.
Your mom chuckles, ruffling your hair affectionately. "I know, I know. Just keep an open mind, okay? This is a new start for all of us." You nod, trying to muster some enthusiasm for the new chapter in your life.
As you continue unpacking, you can't help but wonder what adventures await you in this new place.

Two hours later, you finally finish unpacking your stuff from the boxes. You've also decorated your room beautifully. There's a round, white carpet next to your bed with cute slippers on top of it. Your bed is a single one with simple yet elegant covers. A small bedside table with 2 drawers is set next to your bed with a dim lamp on top of it, casting a warm glow around the room. There's also a bookshelf filled to the brim with books, and a desk next to it, decorated with various trinkets and personal items.
