Spring Is Here, Summer To Come
Kim Jisoo
It is a perfect spring morning, all the households around are quiet, the minute of sheer silence is broken by the sound of newspapers being delivered. Jisoo wakes up exactly at that time. She looks beside her and Seulgi is sleeping like a little bunny, her older sister (only by 1 year or so)
She leaps from her bed, gets freshened up and heads downstairs. As she makes her way to the kitchen, she sees breakfast piled on the countertop
"I've beaten you today, I am the first one up" says a voice from behind
Jisoo smiles and looks at her dad "Well, considering the fact that you've been losing for three week straight, today is a good day to win, don't you think?" she makes fun of him
"Well, everyday is a good day for you and every little thing is perfect to you" he replies and sips on his tea that he so delightfully made.
Jisoo doesn't drink tea, she is more of a coffee drinker. She takes an espresso pod and puts it in her machine.
"Why not dad? I suppose you should start seeing perfection in everything too" she says and opens the door to collect the newspaper
She sits beside her father on the sofa and they both start reading it together. It is their tradition, their father-daughter time right at the start of the day before things start going crazy as the day goes on.
"You are perfection, my daughter" he replies
Jisoo kisses his cheeks and they start reading the breaking news slammed on the front page. There is always a sensational news on the front page and they start by dissecting the truths and lies writen all over the paper
"Some day, my daughter will also be on the newspaper and it'll be the happiest day of my life. You are born to greatness, me dear" says her father
As Jisoo finishes her coffee, laughs whatever her father said off and washes their cup
"I don't wanna be on the newspaper. I don't want to achieve greatness. I'd rather stay here my family and it'll be the perfect life for me. Anyways, I'll go and wake Seulgi up. We might get late for school" she says
Her father doesn't reply, he just nods and watches her go upstairs. It is precisely this time every day that he starts missing their mother. He is an old man now, looks much older than his age. His children are all he has left. He has been raising both the daughters alone and Jisoo is his golden daughter, his only hope in his hopeless life. She is the youngest of them but she has taken over the house and taken care of everything as if she is already thirty. He doesn't want to be biased but deep down he knows that if there was a fire and he could only save one daughter, he wouldn't think twice before saving Jisoo. Partly because he also feels guilty for burdening her with so much at such young age. He admires her strength, he admires her ambitions. He sees himself in her
Suddenly the thought of another person pops in his mind but he quickly tries to divert his mind away from that person.
"My two daughters are enough for me" he says
Jisoo is the prettiest no doubt but it is her personality and her kindness that makes her so unique. The entire neighborhood loves her, she wakes up early, makes everyone breakfast, cleans the house and then gets ready for school. At school, she is the most popular girl, the one everyone is jealous of. She gets an A* at every test she appears in, she is the leader of the cheer team, she is undoubtedly the prettiest in the whole school and she has a boyfriend. Jeon Jungkook, the captain of the football team. Every one talks about how perfect their babies would be. Jisoo and Jungkook have been together for as long as people can remember, the *it couple* of the campus but honestly no one hated her for having everything going right in her life. Rather, for the first time, the most popular girl is not a bitch. Rather, she is the kindest soul to ever exist. You can approach Kim Jisoo for any of your problems, having trouble solving math? Had a rough day at school? Problems in your house? Name it and she would always be there. But of course, people didn't actually go to her for such petty problems. They knew that she would be there for them but they never approached her. They only admired her from afar, they wished they could be her.
