Two Years Ago

Hope stood at the edge of the party, her gaze drifting over the crowded room. The pulsating beat of the music, the vibrant lights, and the sea of people created an atmosphere of carefree chaos. She was nursing her drink when she caught sight of Jaemin across the room. He was surrounded by a group of friends, laughing and radiating an effortless charm that drew her in.

Their eyes met, and Jaemin's smile widened. He made his way over, cutting through the crowd with ease. "Hey, I'm Jaemin. Haven't seen you around here before."

"Hope," she replied, smiling back. "Nice to meet you."

From that moment on, they were inseparable. Their relationship started with a whirlwind romance fueled by passion and excitement. They partied together almost every night, indulging in the intoxicating mix of alcohol, music, and each other's company.

However, it didn't take long for the cracks to show. Their relationship was built on a shaky foundation of wild nights and impulsive decisions. The more they partied, the more they fought. What started as playful banter quickly escalated into shouting matches.

"Why were you flirting with her?" Jaemin would accuse, his voice rising above the music.

"I wasn't! You're the one who can't keep his hands to himself!" Hope would retort, anger flaring in her eyes.

The fights were fierce and frequent. They yelled at each other, hurling accusations and insults that left lasting scars. The passion that once brought them together now tore them apart.

Their trust eroded as infidelities came to light. Jaemin found out about Hope's fling with one of his friends, and Hope discovered Jaemin's secretive texts with another girl. They cheated on each other, each betrayal adding fuel to their volatile relationship.

One fateful night, everything came to a head. They were driving home from yet another party, Hope behind the wheel, and Jaemin in the passenger seat. The argument started small but quickly spiraled out of control.

"You never listen to me! You're always out with your friends, ignoring me!" Jaemin shouted, his face twisted with anger.

"Ignore you? You're the one who's always flirting with other girls!" Hope yelled back, her grip on the steering wheel tightening.

The car swerved as Hope's focus wavered. Jaemin reached out, trying to grab the wheel. "Watch the road, Hope!"

"Don't tell me what to do!" she snapped, her attention divided between the road and their argument.

In an instant, their world shattered. Hope's car veered off the road, crashing into a guardrail. The impact was violent, the sound of metal crunching and glass shattering echoing in the night. Both were thrown forward, the airbags deploying too late to prevent their injuries.

Pain and confusion blurred Hope's vision as she tried to make sense of what had happened. Jaemin groaned beside her, blood trickling down his forehead. They were alive, but barely.

The accident was a wake-up call. As they lay in the hospital, bruised and broken, they realized the toll their toxic relationship had taken on them. The love they once shared had turned into a destructive force that nearly cost them their lives.

"I can't do this anymore, Jaemin," Hope whispered, tears streaming down her face. "We're destroying each other."

Jaemin nodded, his own eyes filled with regret. "You're right. It's over. We need to let go."

And so, they parted ways, vowing never to repeat the mistakes that had led them to that fateful night. But the scars, both physical and emotional, would remain with them, a constant reminder of the love that had turned to ruin.

As Hope reflected on that painful chapter of her life, she couldn't help but feel a pang of sadness. The secrets of her past, now exposed to the world, threatened to unravel the new life she had built with Mark and Haechan. The road ahead was uncertain, but she knew one thing for sure: she couldn't let history repeat itself.
