Elle's fingers lingered on the piano keys, the final note of the Ravenscode song still reverberating in her mind. The silence in the room was almost deafening, a stark contrast to the emotional storm that had just poured out of her through the music. She closed her eyes, letting out a long breath, and tried to ground herself in the present moment.

The piano room had always been her sanctuary, a place where she could escape and pour her heart into the melodies she played. But today, it felt different. The walls seemed to close in, reminding her of the weight she had been carrying.

Standing up, Elle glanced at the clock. It was late afternoon, and she had promised to meet her best friend, Sophie, for coffee. Gathering her things, she walked out of the room, the echo of her footsteps accompanying her down the empty hallways of the music department.

The campus was bustling with life, students hurrying to their next classes or lounging on the grassy quad. Elle navigated through the familiar paths, her thoughts still tangled with memories of Josh. She couldn't shake off the feeling of emptiness that had settled in her chest.

At the campus café, she spotted Sophie sitting at their usual table, a bright smile on her face. Sophie was the kind of friend who could always lift Elle's spirits, no matter how down she felt.

"Elle! Over here!" Sophie called out, waving her over.

Elle smiled back and made her way to the table, sliding into the seat across from Sophie. The aroma of freshly brewed coffee and the hum of conversation created a comforting atmosphere.

"Hey, Soph. Thanks for meeting me," Elle said, trying to sound cheerful.

"Of course! You know I'm always here for you. How was practice?" Sophie asked, her eyes filled with genuine concern.

"It was... intense," Elle admitted. "I was playing that Ravenscode song, and it brought back so many memories."

Sophie reached across the table and squeezed Elle's hand. "I know it's been tough. You don't have to go through this alone, you know."

Elle nodded, appreciating Sophie's unwavering support. "I know. It's just that everything reminds me of him. The good times, the bad times, all of it. It's hard to move on."

"I get it," Sophie said gently. "But you deserve to be happy, Elle. Maybe it's time to focus on yourself and what makes you happy."

Elle took a sip of her coffee, letting Sophie's words sink in. She knew her friend was right. It was time to start putting herself first and finding her own happiness.

As they chatted about lighter topics, Elle felt a sense of relief. Talking to Sophie always had a way of putting things into perspective. By the time they finished their coffee, Elle felt a renewed sense of determination.

Walking back to her dorm, Elle resolved to take control of her life and focus on her passions. She couldn't change the past, but she could shape her future. And with friends like Sophie by her side, she knew she had the support she needed.

Later that evening, Elle sat at her desk, flipping through her sheet music. She decided to work on a new composition, something that reflected her journey and the strength she was discovering within herself. As she scribbled down notes and melodies, she felt a spark of inspiration.

Hours passed, and Elle lost herself in the creative process. The music flowed from her soul, each note telling a part of her story. It was cathartic, a way to channel her emotions into something beautiful.

As the night grew darker, Elle finally put down her pen, satisfied with what she had created. She knew this was just the beginning of her journey, and there would be more challenges ahead. But for the first time in a long while, she felt hopeful.
