THIRD PERSON POV

at the Sim Mansion;

" darling, you didn't forget about your date with sunghoon later on, did you?" mrs.sim asked her daughter.

"no, mom. don't worry." aera groaned inaudibly before replying.

the families had suggested the two to hangout with each other before the engagement to break the ice between them. eventually, sunghoon and aera settled to meet at her favourite café around twelve pm and decided that they would finalize the other matters through a call or by text.

aera was very nervous about this whole thing, and so, going on a 'date' with a person for the first time in her life wasn't anything relaxing. but aera was just aera. she was good in small talk and she was cheerful. so between her and sunghoon, she would definitely not be the most awkward there. last night, she chanted those words in her head, over and over again, so thank she might not die out of nervousness before she even met the man. and somehow that worked and she had fallen asleep sometime in the process.

today aera had woken up later than usual, the time being five minutes past ten in the morning. and as soon as she had seen the time, her eyes widened.

"i don't even have two hours before meeting with sunghoon! when am i gonna get ready?!" and so, her morning hadn't started in the best way possible.

she remembered that some details were yet to be finalized about her meet-up with sunghoon, and so she quickly checked her phone after freshening up and found out that he had already called her twice in the morning, one at six am and another at eight.

"who even stays awake at six in the damn morning? is he insane? oh my god." aera mumbled. well, apparently, her soon-to-be fiancé did.

she quickly called him back. a few rings passed until it was picked up.

"hello. this is park sunghoon's secretary, kim gyuvin, speaking. how may i help you?"

"hey... um, can i talk to sunghoon?" aera spoke.

"sorry miss. but sir is currently in an important meeting." gyuvin apologized.

"when does the meeting end?" aera asked.

"around eleven fifty if i'm not wrong." gyuvin answered her.

"i... this is important too. can you please at least tell him that i called immediately? sorry if i'm troubling you." aera muttered as she ran a hand through her brown hair, not sure about how to handle the current situation.

"no, no, that's fine. i'll let him know immediately. thank you." and the call was cut.

aera decided that she'll just get ready and call sunghoon later on. she had already woken up late and therefore, didn't want to be late to their first meet-up. and so, she picked a light yellow coloured dress that reached untill her mid-thigh. as she was thinking about which shoes to wear, her phone rang, startling her. was it sunghoon? but his meeting ended around an hour later, and only five minutes had passed since her call with gyuvin.

so she checked her phone, surprised to see sunghoon's name flashing on her screen. she quickly picked up the call.

"hey, aera. sorry for not being able to pick up your call earlier, i was in a meeting." sunghoon spoke.

"no worries. um... did it end already?"

"no. i'll talk to you first and just go back inside later."

"okay... thanks, so uh... is twelve pm still fixed?"

"yeah, if that's okay with you. and i'll pick you up."

"but what about your meeting?"

"i can cut it short. it's not a big deal."

"that's thoughtful, sunghoon. thank you... i appreciate it." she and sunghoon weren't the closest of friends, and considering that he had to cut an important meeting short just to pick up a woman he didn't even like romantically for their first hangout is a gentlemanly thing to do. and nowadays, most men that walk on the soil of the earth could be called anything but a gentleman.

"mhm."

"yeah, um... see you later then?"

"yes, of course."

sunghoon said as he cut the call and went back into the meeting room to wrap up the meeting.

around eleven thirty, sunghoon had texted her that he was in front of her house. as he saw aera exiting the house, he got out from his car and opened the passenger door for her.

aera noticed that he had discarded his suit for the outing, but kept the plain white shirt, the two topmost buttons undone and the long sleeves rolled upto his elbows, with his usual grey pants. aera quickly changed the direction of her stare, not wanting him to catch her looking at him.

the car ride was mostly silent other than the few times aera had tried to make some small talk, that didn't quite work out. sunghoon wasn't jolly or extroverted, rather he was someone reserved. he was bad at small talk and couldn't open up to people about his emotions. his every word and action was controlled and precise. he was like a robot, a handsome one though. aera knew it very well.
