THIRD PERSON POV

at the Jong Airlines Headquarters;

jongseong was preparing for a meeting with his company managers regarding the launch of a brand new interior design for remodeled aircrafts. the said meeting was set to start within ten minutes and was a fairly important one for the company.

just as he was about to exit his office, minju entered inside with a bag full of chinese takeout from the diner jongseong and minju usually hung out at since childhood. he would take her there every once in a while to have a little celebration of their own, a practice that had faded a few years ago, when both of them started to get busy especially jongseong, who had to spend all his time learning about marketing, finance, fundings and the stock market.

jongseong couldn't help but stare at her, startled, as he thought she probably wouldn't have come out of her room within the current week given her breakup with her jerk of an ex. the guy was way too sweet with his words and acted like a lovesick puppy during the beginning of their relationship. jongseong didn't like him at all, probably because he seemed extremely fake or maybe because he wished he could be in that jerk's place instead.

"hey, i brought you some food from our favorite place as a thank you for the day before yesterday." minju smiled, however, the smile didn't reach her eyes or fluffed out her cheeks.

and upon a closer look, jongseong noticed the dark circles and eye bags that were now slowly becoming prominent. her face looked pale, almost soul-less, to say the least.

he sighed, "what are you doing with yourself, ju?"

minju tried to laugh it off, but rather failed miserably as she felt his warm and worried gaze trail over her. slowly, she could feel tears building up in her eyes, and before she could blink them away, his white shirt was already soaked, his arms around her helping her to not just fall to the ground.

minju was not okay. if anything, she was feeling horrible. it wasn't her fault that her ex-boyfriend, instead of auditioning at a theater, felt like showing off his cinematic acting skills to her.

his secretary knocked on the door, before opening it urgently. "sir park, the meeting has started five minutes-" he was cut off by the scene of the said ceo, on the floor, hugging a girl, as she bawled her eyes out while clutching his soaked shirt.

"cancel all my meetings for today and postpone them to tomorrow." jongseong spoke. his secretary nodded hesitantly before making a beeline towards the door. "o... okay, sir."

"seong?" minju sniffled as she gazed at nothing in particular.

"hmm, ju?" jongseong patted her back gently.

"why did he do that to me? was i a bad girlfriend? should i have just agreed to everything he said?" minju rambled on, her feelings evident on the hushed tone of her words.

"minju, you're a person, a human. not some toy or slave. if you didn't like something, you deserved to voice out your opinion and he was supposed to respect it. he was the person in the wrong. screw that, he wasn't a person, he was a fucking asshole, minju. don't cry for someone as idiotic and trivial as him." jongseong said, hoping every word reaches her heart.

minju sighed heavily, and then spoke, her tone desperate, "you know what, maybe, love is useless. i've had so much love to give and yet in return, i got none. i'm tired of giving, jongseong. i want to be loved too, i want my soul to be seen, i want my tears to make someone feel something for me, i want someone to crumble completely when i cry. maybe, love is wrong."

"then stop giving." jongseong paused before continuing, "let me make you feel loved. bare your soul to me. see me crumble completely when you cry. let me prove to you that love isn't wrong or useless, because i live for you. do you understand? i breathe for you, minju. i want to breathe for you."

minju looked up at him as her breath hitched at the deep and vulnerable gaze of his eyes looking straight at her. "what?"

"i love you. i've loved you for years." jongseong spoke.

"jongseong..." minju trailed off not knowing what to reply to his sudden, overwhelming confession.

"you don't have to say anything, minju. just sleep, take some rest." he said as he pulled both of them from the floor and lifted her up into his arms, one arm around her waist and the other around her legs, before putting her on the couch inside his office.

jongseong went away before she could say anything, and sat on his office chair, aiming to resume his work from earlier. was he able to though? not a bit.

minju woke up a few hours later. and as soon as she opened her eyes, the dim warm light inside the office and the darkness outside drove her mind into a haze of confusion. taking out her phone from her purse, her eyes landed on the time displayed in bold numbers. 03:47

and that's when her gaze locked onto jongseong sleeping on his office chair, his laptop shut. an unknown warmth and profound sense of protection invaded her heart, as she realized a number of things.

number 1, he didn't wake her up from sleeping for hours at an unusual time, when he could easily do so, given the fact that she knew how much he valued his sleep, as it was the only time he could get some proper rest.

number 2, he thought it would be better to sleep in one of the most uncomfortable positions known to mankind, in his office chair, when she knew how severe his back pain problems could get.

number 3, his migraines get triggered easily without proper sleep and how those constant headaches wouldn't go away completely without one or two injections, and yet, he hadn't tried to interrupt her once.

number 4, he had an ungodly obsession with remembering her likes and dislikes. so, instead of waking her up, he decided to put a warm blanket over her, as she had once told him about how she gets cold in the night.

number 5, she might have started to harbor feelings for him somewhere in her heart, because all she felt like right now, was to hug that man and hold his hand and never let go.
