THIRD PERSON POV
today is the day when sunghoon and aera will be tied together by the bond of marriage. the day when they will join the bits and pieces of their heart with the other and bond their spirits, bodies and souls in union.
as they now stood at the altar after aera's dad had walked her to sunghoon, their hearts were beating at a rapid pace, a realization of what the future awaits slowly dawning on them.
"i, park sunghoon, take you, sim aera, to be my wife, to have and to hold from this day forward, for better, for worse, for richer, for poorer, in sickness and in health, to love and to cherish, till death us do part." sunghoon vowed before saying his individual wedding statement. "i promise to be true to you in good times and in bad, in sickness and in health. i will honor you all the days of my life."
"i, sim aera, take you, park sunghoon, to be my husband, to have and to hold from this day forward, for better, for worse, for richer, for poorer, in sickness and in health, to love and to cherish, till death us do part." aera vowed, a sense of warmth enveloping her heart, as she continued. "i accept you with your faults and your strengths, as i offer myself to you with my faults and my strengths."
she could suddenly feel sunghoon stiffening beside her, the vulnerable rawness and truth in aera's statement making him feel truly wanted and loved.
the wedding officiant then spoke, "i pronounce you husband and wife. you may now kiss the bride."
both sunghoon and aera hesitantly turned to face each other as he took a few steps towards her.
his hand reached out to softly grab a hold of the veil and lift it up, as his deep eyes met her warm ones.
he could see the faint blush growing on her cheeks from such a close prolonged eye contact, a subtle smile forming on his lips.
aera couldn't help but lower her head shyly when she realized that sunghoon had no intention of doing so.
putting a firm hand on her waist, sunghoon placed the palm of his other hand on her nape as his thumb caressed her earlobe before he placed the thumb under her chin with a gentle force, slowly pushing her chin upwards to look at him.
and in no time, she could feel her eyes closing involuntarily as she felt a pair of soft lips on hers. sunghoon's kiss was only a short peck yet the impact it had left on aera was undeniable and unforgettable.
as they stood side by side facing towards their guests, which were only a few close friends and family as it had been during the engagement party, his hands that were previously on her now unconnected, aera felt as if time had become completely still.
a series of claps and laughters were heard from the audience as everyone got up to congratulate the newlyweds.
jeemin, who had been avoiding heeseung since the last incident, made her way to her best friend to congratulate her.
"aera, my love! i'm so happy for you!" she looked at her best friend with a warm smile on her face, a few tear stains on her cheeks which indicated that she had cried during the ceremony.
"you better keep her happy or else i'll forget all those years you took care of me and hunt you down." aera playfully glared at sunghoon, her tone one of mischief.
sunghoon laughed at her threat, as he feigned hurt at her words. "oh, you're making me so scared now." his voice laced with amusement.
as jeemin turned around to go back to her seat, her face abruptly came in contact with a hard chest. she could feel the other person extend their hand on her waist to steady her.
"oh, i'm so sor-" her apology was cut short as her eyes fell over the familiar figure. she was suddenly pulled to a rather secluded corner of the church.
"jeemin, i've been wanting to talk to you for days! can you imagine how worried i was?" heeseung took a deep breath, trying not to lash out on her. "listen. if i did something wrong, tell me and i won't do it again. but this- this pathetic game of tom and jerry that you're trying to play is just not it. do you understand?"
as jeemin was about to reply, she noticed heojin walking towards them, a nasty glare painted on her face.
her words died down in her throat when the flashbacks of that day's conversation popped into her head.
and so before she could come face to face with her, jeemin turned back and quickly left the church without having a single word spoken to heeseung.
truth be told, jeemin was exceptionality sensitive to people comments. growing up as a people pleaser, she couldn't help but think about others before she ever thought of herself. after all, she was a backup not only for others, but also for herself.
heeseung groaned as he turned to heojin, "do you know what's wrong with her? if she's hurt or upset with me?did she tell you anything?"
heojin rolled her eyes internally, an oblivious and innocent expression framing her face. "no... i would've told you then. also, you tried to mend your relationship with her, but since she won't cooperate, it's her fault." her voice was filled with fake concern and worry as she continued, "but i truly do hope she's okay. she'll come to her senses soon and apologize to you, don't worry."
heeseung was clearly feeling quite hurt at jeemin's recent behavior, especially considering how jeemin would always come to him if she ever felt sad, but this time, she was ignoring him, and the fact that he could be the cause of her sadness made his insides getting crushed with dread.
