Sitting in the kitchen with Leopold while he tries to come up with a lie to tell the council. It has been a few months since they were here last and talking about rumors which are true, but they can't know that.

"How long does it take to come up with a lie?"

I growl unhappy with how long he's taking. Starting to pace back and forth knowing the council has been in my study for over an hour waiting for me to come up with evidence as to why this rumor is false. My thoughts get interrupted as I look up to see him finally get up from his chair.

"I'm sorry Alpha, I'm ready to speak to them now."

His voice does not sound like a robot anymore, which is good. He turns to the door and walks to my study where the council is. Well, here we go, hopefully this is what will help move things along, I follow close behind him and do a quick introduction.

"I'm sorry, gentlemen that it took me awhile to come up with evidence. This is Leopold, one of my oldest and dearest friends. He is loyal to the pack and has come to talk with you all."

Looking at their reactions it doesn't seem good, but I have to trust my gut with this. They seem almost suspicious with the way I am speaking. Hoping I can throw them off of my trail, let's hope this works. I go to say something else, but Leopold speaks up and takes matters into his own hands.

"Sirs, I am not sure what you have been hearing but I can assure you that Alpha is doing everything he can to make sure this pack is running smoothly and not to be attacked by the enemy packs."

I watch as Leopold talks to them and watches one of the councilmen look at him with a raised eyebrow but then a meaningful look. The others talk among themselves and then stand up, they shake hands with me and walk out the door. I start to smirk to myself as my wife comes into the room, her look soft and calm as she sits at my feet.

"Well, my dear, you came in at the perfect moment. My plan is working perfectly, I am sure the council will not be back anytime soon. Now to get Alaina back here and force her to listen to me."

"Yes, my dear I am sure she will be back anytime now and will do as you ask."

Watching as my wife looks into my soul with her white glazed eyes. My smirk bouncing off her reflection of me in her eyes.

"My dear this is finally my turn to take control of our family and prolong my life. Whether Alaina knows it or not she will save me from death."

Looking down into my glass as I remember my life before my wife and my kids.

A life full of misery and terrible choices. My life as a child was miserable, full of my father's wrath, telling me that I was made for nothing. My father always said I was going to bring the family down and bring them to ruin. Well, when he died, I swore that I wouldn't be like him. I gained power, lots and lots of power. When I was told that I had the family's curse I panicked. In my family all males will die unless all daughters marry and carry children. My Alaina was the chosen one to save my life. When she marries my curse will be broken and then I can focus on ruling the world. How I look forward to that. I have so many plans.

"My dear, hello, are you ok?"

Shaking my head to bring myself back to reality and realize my wife is speaking to me.

"Yes, my love, I'm alright."

I can't let any memories come back now. I must come up with a plan to get my daughter back into my possession. I wonder if I could contact my friend's son. Although it would be against the protocol for the pack. You see he is a vampire. But he would do as I say since we are on good terms, and he would love to be considered as one of my daughter's suitors.
