While Jackson was walking home sipping on his daily dose of coffee Ines made for him, he heard a voice behind him.
"Jackson!" Someone was calling for him. Jackson immediately turned around, eyebrows furrowed.
It was Ines's best friend - Louise, he believed - the girl he just met. She was huffing in front of Jackson, short hair tangled in her face. She pushed it back behind her ears.
Confused, Jackson looked around to really see who Louise was talking to. "Hi?"
"Jackson, I know this is quite concerning," She even had an accent in her voice. "I know you really like Ines, and that you both have chemistry."
Jackson tilted his head. "What?"
"Don't act dumb! Why else would you come to her shop every day? But don't worry. I haven't told her of my suspicions."
Jackson found this to be very strange, so he turned away from her. "Your suspicions. That doesn't mean they're true."
"Oh, god, Jackson. Just tell me how long you've been going to her shop to flirt with her."
Jackson stopped, his face flushed. He wanted this girl to keep her mouth shut for a moment. Jackson knew he was never that improper, but Louise made Jackson and Ines's friendship into a joke.
"Why does it matter? I've known her for only ten days, so what?"
"Ten days doesn't define anything, you know. Anything can happen in ten days."
Jackson tried to pick up his pace in walking, not looking back at Louise.
"Jackson! Do you think this is going to go on forever? Just face it now, you're not getting anywhere."
Jackson slowly turned around once again, sighing. "What do you want me to say, Louise?"
Louise was looking at the ground for a moment, but then her face lit up.
"You have a plan?"
Louise doesn't say anything but starts to giggle.
Jackson sighs. "Okay, fine. I do like her, but I don't get why you want to hurry everything."
"Trust me, I know what I am thinking. I want you to tell her how you feel."
Jackson couldn't believe that he, himself, was considering this. "Why should I trust this?"
"Because I know that this is going to be a good thing, Jackson. I'm going to need you to trust me." Louise smiles.
Jackson looks down at his shoes, not knowing what to think about the situation he technically put himself into. "But what do I do? I'll freak out if I have to tell her."
Louise looks up to him.
"Wait, you're not thinking-"
"Write her a letter, a handwritten one. Girls love that in general, and it's smart because you don't have to tell her in person, so you won't freak out."
"And if I'm too scared to come back to the shop again?"
"Listen, Jackson. I can't say that Ines likes you, but she definitely cares about you. She's always expecting your arrival every day at her shop, and she's always ready to make you a coffee."
"She could be just being nice, right?" Jackson was trying to convince Louise that this was a silly idea.
"You never know, Jackson. Listen, you only live once. In the end, what are we waiting for? The world is not going to do it all for us, right?"
