                        CHAPTER SEVENTEEN
What is going on? Uchendu I asked as I  looked at Uchendu. He still refused to look at me, not even answering my question.

I  walked closer to him and had him facing me,  putting my hands on my hips. I demanded an explanation on what was going on ?

Uchendu looked at urehma not knowing what to say, he knew that he was the architect of what was going on. but still he can't help, but feel hurt seeing the way Adrienne ran towards  chisom.

She had never done such for him , Despite the fact he told her countless times that he loves and cares for her .

Now having Urehma questioning him on what was  going on , is adding stress to his current predicament.

He knows that one day he will have to explain to urehma, but right now is not the time . as so much is going round his head .

I took a deep breath calmly and drew Urehma into my embrace ,I needed this much comfort from a human being

Nothing is going on Urehma , Adrienne probably  feel sorry for  Chisom that's why she went to help her.

Besides , soon she will be part of our family

Or won't you have done the same assuming Adrienne is not here ? He asked her 

King Uchendu asked as he tried to divert the narrative Urehma is driving at 

Urehma was surprised firstly by the embrace her husband drew her into. 

Don't get me wrong my husband is very a affectionate man but not to this extent.

But i will just go along with him until he feels that he ready to open up to me

Well I would have done the same she answered as she held him back allowing him to rest his head on her  shoulder.

I was returning back to my sister's room to drop her wet clothes. I took my time to sit for a while to ponder my thoughts, as I am so stressed right now .

I know I told my sister that everything is going to work out, 

But right now  I am kind of scared,  I am sure everyone is feeling the same way as me. 

I still can't believe Adrienne will react towards my sister in this manner or do something like this .

I was still pondering my thoughts when I heard a noise,  I got up to go  see who it was ? only for me to find out about it , my friend njideka.

Ruth what is going on? njideka asked her ,  because I am getting more confused I know you promised to tell me but right now I can't wait until you do .

Seriously just give me some time , me too I am still trying to comprehend what just happened. Ruth said as she stood up from the bed once again , Going around the corner to pick up their bags so they could stay in the guest room that was given to them. 

I seriously don't like what you're doing. I thought we were  friends ? njideka asked with a little raised voice

I have been asking you this since but you have been avoiding answering me.

I always tell you when something is going on with me but now I have come to realize that you won't do the same for me, njideka said getting upset.

she wanted to say more  but got more upset and changes her words  saying 

You know what ?  keep your story to yourself I don't want to know anymore njideka said before storming out of the room in obvious anger. 

Ruth just stood there  beside the bed not knowing if she should go after her friend and explain, or if she should just ignore it and maybe it will go away .

But she knows njideka,  she won't let the matter die down so she went after her friend in other  to explain to her.

Opening the door I saw my friend pretending to be  sleeping I went to lay beside her but she was trying to get me off her 

I made her turn to  towards me.

Looking at njideka I realized she was right it wasn't fair that I was keeping important things from her ,because she always opens up to me whenever something is going on with her 

But right now I can't do the same, but  I decided to take a little step with her 

Listen, it 's not as if I don't want to tell you it's just that I had promised my sister that I won't, and telling you now will be breaking that promise.

Njideka looked at Ruth suspiciously and then said well keep it to yourself, remember I told you I want no part of it she said as she turned her face  facing away from Ruth.

Ruth knew that if she doesn't make amends with her Friend now they might cease to be True friends anymore.

So she decided within herself to tell her exactly what was going on .

Njideka  felt Ruth leaned towards her ear and spoke the words she never thought off 

My sister is a lesbian and she is in love with queen Adrienne that why she agreed to marry the king

Ruth said as she turned towards her side getting ready to sleep .

Njideka tried to ask more questions , Ruth refused her and bid her goodnight.

Njideka was still in shock about what she had just heard, but any further questions from Ruth wouldn't answer her .

So she in turn went back to bed hoping  for sleep to claim 

Because what she had just heard from her friend,  will be the last thing her brain would be willing to overlook .
