CHAPTER TWENTY TWO

As the car was  approaching the palace estate entrance I could feel the uneasiness coming out of everyone , it was as if we couldn't wait to get off the car. 

I won't lie. I was still shaking about  Queen Uka's question some hours ago. 

I know she is the  kind of person that  is always vocal about their demands.

But  I didn't know she would come right at me , and ask me about my closeness with Adrienne.

And now that I have  given her an answer, I wonder what she will do about it . 

Because I can tell deep down she is not happy with the fact that Adrienne chose me 

Before I could continue thinking about my new predicament, that  I have just found myself in. 

I felt the car door being opened,  I guessed we had arrived.

I didn't even take notice that the car had come to a halt  as I was too cut up with my thoughts.

Queen urehma got out first , then followed by queen uka. I came down gently from the car looking towards the entrance of the palace mansion 

I saw Adrienne standing beside king Uchendu, my future husband.

Adrienne looks so regal and mysterious, my gods I am so  in love with her.

In just a small amount of time I can't imagine my life without her in it 

I walked closer to them ,  I saw Queen Urehma and Uka exchanging words between themselves. I wonder if I am the topic of their conversation.

As I came upon them I greeted the king as custom and tradition demands it,  he then patted me gently at my back.

I raised my head and smiled softly towards him , before I knew what was going on he drew me into a tight hug.

I was so shocked and surprised,I wasn't expecting this from him .

I felt deep within me that  this might be upsetting towards Adrienne , but there is  nothing I could do about it since he is my betrothed.

As I released myself from the hug I saw Adrienne walked past  me silently .I saw her go into the house and didn't look back, I  could tell she was upset about our little display of affection.

How was the baptism ? my husband to be asked me with a gentle smile on his face 

It was ok,  I replied to him  as I I looked deep into his eyes. I can understand why Adrienne and the rest of the Queens are so loyal to him.

The very first time  he had asked for my hand in marriage I could see he really cares so much for me.

He didn't care what people might think about us being together because of the age difference,  He still went ahead to ask for my hand.

But right now I only  care about  how I am feeling for his first wife queen Adrienne,  the only woman he had ever loved.

King Uchendu was looking at me curiously as if he could see what I was  thinking.  He then smiled at me  and used his palms to frame my face. 

I got so confused, so I had to ask him  Is there something on my face? 

He laughed softly and said no my dear there's nothing on your face. 

I am happy you're healthy and fine now,  you actually gave us all quite a scare last night . He said to me, 

But right now go meet her before she sulks herself to sadness.

I looked at him with more confusion on my face. Does this man know about us ? 

But it ain't possible,  because me and Adrienne had never done a public display of affection in front of anyone. 

I was still in my thoughts when king Uchendu spoke to me again 

Chisom please go and  meet Adrienne. I will come join you both later. I guess it is time for us to be truthful with each other.

King Uchendu said as he nudged chisom gently towards the entrance that led to Adrienne room .

He watched her stumble as she  walked  towards Adrienne room,  he knew she was confused but she should not bother herself soon everything will come to light.

He then turned towards his two wives and led them towards the throne room , 

Since his new decisions Will affect both of them,  it is best for him to let them know what is going on or what is about to take place.
