Harley returned to Ivy's place, looking radiant and cheerful, her pigtails bouncing with every step.
Ivy raised an eyebrow. "You seem rather...gleeful for being empty-handed."
Harley flashed a sly grin. "I just came from the harbor after meeting Nightwing."
Ivy's face lit up with a warm, verdant glow, like a vine blooming with secrets. "Ah, Harley, darling... I see you didn't return empty-handed after all. You managed to pilfer something far more valuable than art piece... Nightwing's heart, no less! Do tell, what transpired?"
Harley took a deep breath and began to recount, "I went to Martha Wayne Art Gallery, all dressed up like a fancy patron. I had my eyes on this beautiful painting, and I was about to make my move... when I heard gunshots, then Two-Face's goons came running in, waving their guns like crazy! "I hid behind a nearby sculpture, waiting for the perfect moment to snatch my prize!"
"But then, Batman showed up, and he was eating goons for breakfast – like they were his favorite cereal! I get the hell out of there before he spotted me."
Ivy said with a subtle, gentle smile "You should be thanking Two-Face. If his goons hadn't shown up, you will be facing Batman. And let's be real, darling, you wouldn't have stood a chance."
Harley's grin grew wider, her voice taking on a playful tone. "Then..I caught a glimpse of Nightwing dispatching the last of Two-Face's goons. I was tempted to flirt a little, but with Batman lurking nearby, I figured it was smarter to make a quick exit... for my own skin! I made a swift exit from the gallery and found myself in the alley.
"I scurried outta there faster than a rat, thinkin' I'd finally escaped the chaos! But, I got that creepy-crawly feelin' someone was watchin' me! I took off runnin', my heart racin' like crazy, thinkin' Batman was hot on my heels! And then, WHAM! Some strong arms swept me up, and we were flyin' high, leavin' the alley and all its troubles behind! I turned around, and there he was, my sweet Nightwing, lookin' all heroic and stuff... and I'm thinkin', 'Oh, darling, looks like I'm in a bit of a pickle now!'"
We landed with a light thud on the rooftop of Gotham Financial Centre, the city skyline stretching out behind us. Nightwing's arm still wrapped around my waist, holdin' me close.
Nightwing activated his comms device. "Batman, I'm following a 'suspicious vehicle'." Batman's voice came through the comms system, firm and authoritative. "Affirmative, Nightwing. Keep me informed."
"We should be safe from Batman for now... I mean you...should be safe," Nightwing said to Harley.
Harley's face lit up with a playful smile, her cheeks flushing with excitement. "Oh, Nightwing, always so chivalrous!" Her words dripping with sarcasm. "But I think you mean 'WE' should be safe, don't you, darling? And...I'm definitely safe...in your arms."
Nightwing's face flushed slightly, and he quickly released his hold on Harley's waist, taking a step back. "Sorry, I got carried away. Let's focus on the situation. Why are you at the gallery?"
"I've recently developed a passion for art," her voice sweet and innocent, with enthusiasm shining through. "I'm cultivating a new hobby, and I heard this gallery has some of the most exquisite pieces in Gotham."
Nightwing's countenance turned skeptical, his brow furrowing in concern. "I hope you're here to just admire, and not thinking of bringing them home to...admire," his delivery firm but tingled with dry humor.
Harley's grin grew wider, her face lighting up with a radiant glow. "I promise to behave, just for tonight, just for you... but no promises about tomorrow," her demeanor playful and endearing.
Nightwing's resolve weakened under her captivating charms. "I wish it's not just tonight," a playful sarcasm coloring his words. "Alright, let's get serious now. What about Bellagio's Jewels? We've seen your distinctive flair at the scene." His manner crisp and authoritative, a hint of amusement flickering beneath his stern exterior. "Care to explain what you were doing there?"
Harley's smile slipped for a moment, before she regained her composure. "Oh, that? I gotta make some cash, that's what villains do." She shrugged nonchalantly. "Besides, I didn't take anything... Magpie took it all, a waste of my efforts." A scowl twisted her features.
Nightwing looks worried. "You won't get away every time like tonight. Take this comm device. If you're ever in a tight spot, just press this button, and I'll come to you. I never want to see you in Task Force X again."
"Aww, you're so sweet to worry about me! No one's done that in ages... aside Ivy. And thanks for the device, darling! Now I've got my own Dark Knight to rescue me? Or is this just your sneaky way of giving me your number?"
Nightwing shrugged his shoulders with a soft smile, "Who knows?"
Harley giggled, "you're so mysterious. But anyway... do you have time to spare? I'd love to go to the harbor, feel the sea breeze, and see the night view."
Nightwing's smile grew wider. "Let's go."
Harley's spirit lifted with excitement. "Really? You'll take me?"
Nightwing nodded, his manner warm and inviting. "I'd love to..."
Nightwing activated his wrist control panel, and a powerful engine roared to life. "I've got a ride waiting for us."
As they descended, Harley's attention landed on the vehicle, and her enthusiasm burst forth. "Oh, my gift to you! You've kept it!"
Nightwing smiled. "This is 'Blue Thunder'."
Harley's excitement was palpable. "You named it? That's like our baby!"
Nightwing's surprise was evident, his eyebrows rising in astonishment. He thought to himself, (That's her charm...) A mix of amusement and incredulity played on his face.
Harley didn't need further encouragement, eagerly climbing aboard. "Let's get moving already!" With a surge of power, 'Blue Thunder' sped across Gotham, its engines thundering through the night air.
