"..And eggs." You placed the final ingredient needed on the table, a sigh escaping your lips.
Dyeth tilts its head, "Humans call these things...Brownies? Don't tell me it's because they're brown.."
While grabbing some measuring cups from a drawer you reply, "That is part of the reasoning."
A judging silence wafts through the kitchen's air.
"Is your species stupid or something? How unoriginal."
That question reignited a recurring thought: how people blindly follow Kira and their vomitous ideals. The earth really is doomed to crumble in the hands of a toddler playing as God, with other babies cooing and awing at the sight. A defeated disappointment takes over as you fully grasp how screwed humanity is. "Unfortunately."
The ring of the doorbell snapped you out of your discontent, dropping the measuring cup as you feel the same hands of a toddler twist your stomach, a sickly feeling invading your body. He was here. You inhale and exhale, trying to calm yourself down. If he is Kira, there would be no reason to kill you. As long as you act like there's not a potential homicidal maniac in front of you, you'll be safe. "Coming!" You yell out before making your way towards the door.
Opening the door, you're greeted by the face of an angel. Sweet brown sugar locks and caramel eyes that rival a dessert so sweet it makes your salivary glands tingle. Someone carved out by Michelangelo via request of the church. It's hard to believe he could be a wolf packaged neatly in a sheepskin, but even Lucifer was beautiful. He was one of God's favorites after all.
"Y/n." Light smiles. One only a charismatic, kind, straight-A student could do. "May I come in?"
You nod warmly, but you can't escape the feeling that you are allowing a vampire into your house; sealing your fate.
"I've missed you." He states.
You let out a surprised laugh, "We just saw each other yesterday, Light."
"But we've only hung out alone once or twice, and even then that was a long time ago." He has a look of longing in his eye, "You're an important friend to me, and it sucks I've been too busy to give you the time that you deserve."
Does that imply more than a friendship?
No, snap out of it. It doesn't. That is nothing more than him being sorry for being a distant friend. The call you two had was not flirting...at least not on his end. And on yours, it wasn't real flirting, you were just trying to get him over as quickly as possible. You needed to study him.
"Don't worry about it Light, I already told you I understand you're busy." You pick up an egg from the table, "Now, are you going to sit here and mope, begging for my forgiveness or are you going to bake?" You hand him the egg teasingly.
He rolls his eyes with a grin and grabs the ingredient from you, "So sorry that I just wanted to let you know you meant a lot to me.."
Do you mean a lot to him though? Or was this just him faking a normal life, a normal friendship so that he's not suspected of being Kira?
"Well, it would mean a lot to my stomach if you started on these damn brownies. I'm hungry."
He set his jaw, but his smirk was still prominent, "Alright." He cracks the egg over a bowl you set out earlier as you grab small measuring cup to fill it with water. "Though I was a bit surprised when you invited me over to bake brownies..I mean it's a pretty easy recipe, it doesn't need two people."
Yeah, it was an impulsive decision. If you thought about it for longer you would've chosen something more time-consuming so that you could keep him here longer.
