Miranda noticed that this animal-like man kept trying to make conversation with her. Did she seem that easy? He seemed nice and funny at the bar and she even enjoyed his company in her lab the following morning but it was all a predatory front.

He nodded his head at her signaling a goodbye and she watched him walk out. He had a confident grace in the way he moved which was a distraction from his dangerously powerful build. The sweetness of his smile hid those unusually sharp canines.

She had seen plenty of vampire movies so it made sense that he would come as handsome as they could. It was actually painful that he looked that good but it was all a lie. All a trap. What was also a lie was Miranda's non-reaction she gave off. Its gorgeous face got to her and tugged at something deep inside of her. It was strange, uncomfortable, and forbidden.

She didn't know why his presence drove up her pulse, heated her blood, and set her on edge, killing him might just be her destiny. And once she did that she wouldn't have to worry about looking over her shoulder and her mother could finally be at ease.

"You like him?" Callie asked with a toothy grin at the nurse's station. She didn't even realize that her feet had moved from the attendings lounge. Ben was in a patient's room administrating pain medication and she had been watching.

Miranda screwed her face up at the thought of liking one of those things. "Go find you something to do." Miranda snapped.

"Whoa calm down," Callie laughed.

"Isn't there someone with broken bones somewhere that needs your help?"

"Relax Ms Grumpy, I just noticed you keep staring at him."

"Will you keep your voice down?" Miranda hushed but then thought against it. She knew his kind had good hearing. Excellent hearing. "Just be cool about it," Miranda said trying to sound shyly. She needed to use this to her advantage.

"Ohhh you really like him," Callie shrieked causing Arizona to come over.

"Like who? Who does Bailey like."

"The anesthesiologist," Callie replied.

"Good lord I asked you to be quiet,"

"Oh, you should ask him out. I bet he liked you too," Arizona giggled.

Miranda almost scuffed. She doubted that thing could like anything. He wanted to conquer her and suck her blood until she was nothing but hollow and then rip her heart out and give it to his friends.

"Leave. You two go now," Miranda shoved them away.

She let out a shriek when she found the vampire standing right in front of her.
She blinked. Stared over at the room he was just standing in. Then at him. Then at the room once more.

How fast was this man? She heard about their speed. Seen it on TV but nothing could compare to seeing it in real life. He’d been standing there seconds ago administering a drug. A second ago. Maybe less than that. And she hadn’t heard him move. Now she was curious about just how many abilities did vampires have anyway. Maybe she shouldn’t kill him just yet. Maybe she should stretch this fake flirtation and keep studying him for research purposes.

"Miranda," Ben spoke as he snapped her out of her thoughts. His voice sounded almost like a growl.

"Hey," she smiled trying to hide her murderous intentions behind a nice smile. Ben leaned towards her with a replying smile on his face. She admitted it was a very handsome smile and it lit his face up. She looked into his unnatural eyes and he almost looked adoring at her.

“Hi,” he replied, and there was an edge to his low, gruff voice, one that suggested excitement?

She figured it was his primal urge that liked a chase.
