"Tree!" Patrick said as he burst into the director's cabin without actually knocking.
"Ah, Patrick, just the person I wanted to see," Tree said, looking up from the papers that were on her desk. Patrick had an arrogant smile on her face. "What made you think it was okay for you to put your hands on a camper, son?" the smile on Patrick's face faded. The question wasn't what he was expecting.
"He wasn't listening to his counselor and refused to do what he was told when asked to go back to his group." Patrick tried to explain. Tree did nothing but shake her hand at his explanation.
"You know I have to write you up for this, correct?" Tree asked, and Patrick's face dropped.
"But, why?!" Patrick asked in shock. "I was just doing my job."
"Was touching or grabbing a camper ever in the training?" Tree asked, causing Patrick to shake his head. "We talk this very seriously, Patrick; you can not put your hands on a camper or anyone else here. You have no idea what might set them off. It is also considered abuse." Patrick didn't say anything. He just listened to Tree's voice. "So, I need you to come sign this as confirmation that we had this little talk." Without a word, he walked forward to Tree's desk and signed the paper that he was presented with. "Next time I hear about you doing something like this, it will be your last day as a counselor."
"Yes, ma'am," Patrick said, still pissed that he was even in this situation to begin with. He left out of Tree's cabin without telling her anything about his interaction with Taylor and Kylie. He obviously wasn't going to win this battle. He was in the wrong, and there was nothing he could do but accept it. He walked down the cabin's steps and started towards the dining hall, hoping to find Brittany. He knew that the teen girls had a special visitor speaking to them today, and their counselors were kind of off the hook for the time being. "Hey," he said, with a smile on his face as she walked out of the dining hall. He was ready to take her into his arms for a hug but was met with a displeased look. "What?" he asked, confused.
"Why would you grab, Michael?" Brittany asked. She had heard plenty enough of Taylor's story to know that Patrick putting his hands on her little one would cause an issue.
"C'mon, not you, too," Patrick said.
"What is that supposed to mean?!" Brittany asked, placing her hands on her hips.
"Why are you all just falling for her and the trauma story she has?" Patrick asked.
"Trauma story?!" Brittany asked. "She has scars on her fucking face showing that she has had a fucked up past, Pat. Why are you being an asshole."
"Because my mom was the same way. Would make up shit just to make it seem like keeping me from my dad was the best choice!" Patrick told her.
"That has nothing to do with Travis! She hasn't seen him since the last time she was at camp," Brittany defended her new friend.
"Yeah, sure. She could be lying about that, too!" Patrick told her.
"You're terrible!" Brittany said, turning away from him and walking away.
