Chapter 6- Broken hearts

We stepped outside to have a quiet talk, away from the prying eyes and curious ears of our friends. JM crossed her arms, her gaze unwavering.

"You know Marky, i didn't really know the reason why you both broke up." her eyes glared at me.

Celeste must've hid this from her...

"I-i broke up with her." my voice cracked as i said that. It's true na ako ang nakipagbreak. To be honest, i feel shitty about that broke up, kasi ang babaw ko.

Di man lang kita pinaglaban..

"Is Mom involved in this?"

"Bakit? Pano mo nalaman?" she looked at me with a surprise.

"She really is involved."

"I'm so weak. 'Di ko man lang sya pinaglaban and i just gave up. Natatakot ako na ilayo sya sa'kin ng mama mo that's why sinabi ko na lang na i don't love her anymore..." i can feel my tears started to fall.

That time when i decided to break up with Celeste, two weeks before graduation. Her mother really test me. Thinking back, i was really scared na ilalayo nya sa akin si Celeste.

"Di mo talaga tatantanan ang anak ko? Walang future sa'yo ang anak ko. After ng graduation, she will be running for the next CEO ng company namin. Do you think i will let her love a  low person like you? Let her go."

"pero... she doesn't want that."

"Are you her mother? How do you know what's best for my daughter? Anak ko sya at ako magsasabi kung anong makakabuti sa anak ko. Kaya ngayon palang know your place, sa tingin mo di ka nya pagsasawaan? Marky i want my daughter to have a family. You kids are too young, you're still exploring with this gender, whatever you have.. Kaya please.. i want what's best for my daughter.. Yun naman ang gusto mo diba? kung anong mapapabuti kay Celeste.. kaya ngayon palang.. Iwan mo sya.. I'll give you a reward for that.."

"para namang tao na nawawala si Celeste para bigyan nyo ho ako ng reward.. Mahal ko si Celeste tita.. and yes! i want what's best for her. Hindi nyo man lang ba kami bibigyan ng pagkakataon? to prove ourselves..?"

"kung mahal mo si Celeste, you know what's best for her and that will be her inheriting the position as a CEO of our company. Please Marky.. you know this is the best life for her..."

Tita's words struck in my ears as I thought about Celeste. I'm not sure kung aasenso nga ako after I graduate. Maghahanap pa'ko ng trabaho and mag-iipon, while for her, andiyan na yung kanya. She'll just manage their company, then boom, ayun na—igagrab niya na lang, while me, magpapakahirap pa'ko maghanap para lang kumita.

Thinking back, i know i want what's best for Celeste. I don't want to be selfish, i want her to succeed. So i did the right thing. Sinunod ko ang mama nya without even telling her na her Mother wants me to break up with her.

"Celeste, let's break up.."

"W-wait, Marky.. what do you mean let's break up?" her voice cracks and she looked at me with sad eyes. "If you're pranking me, stop it. It's not funny, Marky."

"I'm not. It's for the best, Cele. Let's stop this. " i said in a cold tone.

"For the best Marky? This week, gagraduate na tayo. Ano bang pinagsasabi mo?"

"We're just different. I'm not confident na mabubuhay kita and such.."
