When I woke up, the pain in my ribs was excruciating, a sharp, relentless agony that took my breath away. I couldn't form words, only gasp for air, each breath making the situation worse. I summoned what little strength I had and managed to scream, "Allison!" before collapsing back onto the bed, clutching my chest in desperation.

Allison bolted upright, instantly alert. Her eyes darted around the room until they landed on me, wide with worry.

"What's wrong, Tish?" she asked, her voice trembling with fear.

"It hurts," I growled through gritted teeth, my hand instinctively gripping my side.

"Ribs?" she asked, her face draining of color. The realization hit her hard, and I saw a shiver run through her body, fear and panic evident in her eyes as she imagined the worst.

Without another word, she dashed out of the room, her footsteps echoing down the hallway. I tried to stay focused, but the pain was overwhelming, clouding my thoughts. It felt like an eternity as I lay there, each second stretching out unbearably. The pain was becoming more intense, radiating through my entire chest, making it hard to think, hard to breathe.

After what felt like an eternity, Marcus rushed in with Allison right behind him. Without wasting a second, he scooped me up into his arms. The sudden movement made me scream in agony, the sound of my pain echoing through the room.

"Marcus," I managed to mutter, my voice weak and strained.

"Stay with me, okay? We'll be at the hospital in five minutes," he reassured me, his eyes scanning my face, assessing the severity of my condition.

He quickly instructed Allison to drive, and she nodded, her face a mask of determination and fear. Marcus carefully placed me in the backseat of the car, positioning himself beside me. Allison jumped into the driver's seat, started the engine, and we sped off.
