He left without giving me a chance to respond. Overwhelmed, I couldn't even begin to process how one day could utterly transform everything—absolutely everything.

My nightmare of Marcus being my assigned tutor came true but the fact that he would use my body sexually to get some kind of revenge is quite nasty and the worst of all is that the proximity between us turns me on. I never thought that Marcus would be my first and the thought of sharing that kiss is making my stomach flutter.

I tried to push aside my swirling emotions and focus on eating my spaghetti, but my mind refused to grant me a moment's peace. Just yesterday, we had been enemies, and now he was my first kiss? It felt surreal, like a rollercoaster of conflicting thoughts and emotions. My mind raced with questions, unable to make sense of this sudden shift in dynamics. Despite the turmoil, I managed to take a few bites, knowing I needed to eat something along with my painkillers.

____________

THE NEXT MORNING

I woke up promptly at six because I enjoyed having a little self-care time before and after school. I brushed my teeth, took a bath, did my morning skincare, and wore my school uniform. I combed my hair and left them open without styling them much. I wore my sneakers and left my house.

I arrived at school early to finish some remaining tasks that I thought would be best done in the library. With our calculus test scheduled for 8:30, I began reviewing everything Marcus had taught me. I knew I couldn't outmatch him in math—he had the brain of Leonhard Euler.

The test went well, covering everything I studied yesterday. I left the room smiling and searched for Allison.

Marcus's voice came from behind. "You look happy."

"I am," I replied with a smile.

"How did it go?" he asked.

"Amazing, thanks to you. Also, do you know where Allison is?" I inquired politely.
