𝕎𝔼𝔻ℕ𝔼𝕊𝔻𝔸𝕐 approached the two girls, Lilith and Enid, who were busy painting the canoe. His urgent tone immediately captured their attention. "I have to get back to the woods, but Weems has been watching me like a vulture circling a carcass."

Enid raised an eyebrow, her voice dripping with sarcasm. "And you want us to cover for you so that you can return to the scene of a crime that didn't happen?" Wednesday ignored her tone and directed his focus toward Lilith. "I would like Miss Winters to come with me."

Lilith looked up at him, puzzled. "Why? Aren't you a little detective already?"

Crouching down in front of her, Wednesday explained, "More eyes would be more beneficial than one pair. Besides, you know the woods better than anyone else. Your help would be invaluable."

Lilith thought for a moment before shrugging. "Why not? I'll help."

With that, she stood up, and Wednesday followed suit, nodding appreciatively. He then turned to Enid. "We have beekeeping this afternoon. I need you as a decoy."

Enid grimaced. "Sorry, two strikes. I'm busy, and bees totally creep me out. Why don't you ask Thing? Wait, you can't because he's mad at you." Wednesday frowned, confused. "Why is he mad? He's the one who screwed up." Lilith sighed, her arms crossed. "It doesn't matter if he screwed up or not, Wednesday. What matters is that you hurt his feelings."

Enid nodded in agreement. "Yeah. We spent an hour giving each other manis, and he really opened up. He feels like you don't respect him as a person."

Wednesday argued, "Technically, he's only a hand."

Lilith's eyes narrowed. "And you're a stubborn, arrogant detective, and you don't see us disrespecting you. Thing is your family, Wednesday."

Enid added, "Go apologize, and I'll reconsider helping you. He's in our dorm."

Wednesday looked at Lilith and saw the seriousness in her eyes. Reluctantly, he rolled his eyes and walked off to apologize to Thing.

Wednesday arrived at Lilith and Enid's dorm room and entered, immediately noticing Thing sitting on Lilith's bed, flipping through a magazine. Lilith's cat, Eclipse, was sleeping comfortably next to Thing.
