ATHARVA
She looked at me, her eyes sparkling at the mention. Had I ever told her how beautiful she was? Even if I had, I'd say it again. She was stunning, soft, and in my embrace, she felt like she was truly mine. The thought of marrying her again thrilled me. If I ever get the chance, I would marry her over and over.
"Okay, now let me go. I have to get up," she said with a smile.
"Now that you’re in my embrace, I can’t let you go. I don't want to lose this moment," I replied sheepishly.
She blushed and then hid her face in my chest. I chuckled at her reaction. Everyone, including myself, never thought this would be us—this intimacy. I always liked her but never considered our physical desires and affections. But now, I can't deny these feelings. I want this with her, truly. And Dhruvi is something else. She never shows emotions, never been romantic, but now I love that I can make her romantic, submissive, and shy. The mysterious Dhruvi is also my sweetest Dhruvi, who blushes at small things and likes physical affection.
"I can never leave you," I said with a pause, making sure she looked at me. "The days you left me were the first and last time, and I hated that. I hated that during all six years, I wasn't there when you smiled, were happy, laughed, cried, got upset, were hungry. But now that you're here, I'm never going to miss it again, though I hate seeing you sad."
She looked at me, thinking, then said, "I’m not good with emotions and words, but I felt I needed to tell you. I also felt alone when I wasn’t with you. There were crowds, but still, my heart felt lonely because you weren't with me. I don’t know if in the future there will be times when I can't share my thoughts with you, but I will try because relationships don’t work one-sided. I will do my best to be with you and not let my intrusive thoughts get between us."
She made me smile, and I hugged her tightly. She chuckled.
Then she asked, "But if Nandini had not died, would you have married me?"
I took a pause and then said, "I broke up with Nandini when I found out she was making you marry Ashwin. Before your arrival, we fought too much, and I knew I couldn’t show her the emotions I show to you. She knew it too. I don't know about marriage, but I would not have let you go to someone like Ashwin. I wanted the best for you, so I tried everything to break the alliance. Then, on the last day of her life, she told me she wanted to patch things up, but then the accident happened. After that, you came, and I wanted to talk to you, but you shouted at me and didn't let me meet you. But I was ready to marry you to save you from Ashwin. Then I realized I hated the thought of you being with someone else. Then I got a letter, and the rest you know. I don’t think I loved Nandini, but I appreciated her emotions and care for me. I promised her to be with her when you left, so I tried to always maintain our relationship. I never knew her tactics, but now she’s dead, and I forgive her. I don’t want anything from the past with her because my past, present, and future all belong to one girl, and that's you," I said, making eye contact wiadorably.
The night ended with her in my embrace, peacefully asleep. The next day, I had already informed her closest friends and family, as well as mine, to join us in Coorg. Dhruvi never liked attention or large gatherings; she wanted her big day to be intimate and special. I contacted Enara Malhotra, a friend and an exceptional event manager, to help plan the wedding. Everything was set, and finally, our day arrived—our wedding day.The setup was perfect, a blend of our tastes and preferences. What thrilled Dhruvi the most was the food truck stocked with all our favorite dishes. She's always been a foodie, and I still marvel at how she manages to stay so fit.
Standing at the mandap in my peach sherwani, I felt a surge of emotions. "Finally, my guy, you've got the love and the moments you both deserve," Anmay said, standing behind me.
As Dhruvi walked towards me, she looked stunning in a minimal red saree, exactly as we had planned—simple and elegant. She smiled at me and took her place beside me. The wedding rituals began, and I whispered, "You're already Mrs. Rathore, but I can't wait to make you Mrs. Atharva Rathore again." She smiled, her eyes sparkling with joy.
As the ceremony concluded, we took blessings from everyone, making up for the last time. Dhruvi's friends, Aisha and Kavya, came over. Kavya had missed our first wedding, but she was here for our true one. The trio hugged, reunited at last. Anmay and I shared a half-hug and fist-bumped with Enara.
"Can't believe I attended your second wedding, but finally, my lovers are reunited," Aisha said, performing the traditional 'nazar utaro' gesture. "I feel like I'm in a daily soap; you guys have such an interesting story."
We all laughed. Then she added, "Remember, she's my wife first, then yours." Kavya smacked her playfully, saying, "Behave."
"And she's our mother second, your mother-in-law too, remember that," Aisha said, rubbing Dhruvi's head affectionately.
"Bhai, let's go to the food counter now," Dhruvi said, pouting adorafirst.
Dhruvi hurried to the food counter, barely glancing back at me. I couldn't help but frown, feeling a bit overshadowed by her love for food. It seemed that, for her, the food came first.
