The blonde chipette had been staring at the picture on her phone for 10 minutes.

She tilted her head and zoomed further into the image of her and her new crush. Ever since she'd laid eyes on him 3 days before, she just had to photoshop a picture of them together. The girl found the male with cherry-cola hair and cocoa-brown eyes rather charming and quite dashing.

She wanted to make "them" happen. She needed to ask for someone else's opinion; she turned to the chipmunk slumped back on the chair next to hers. He was muttering words to himself, as he usually does when he plays video games on his phone.

"Alvin?" she asked softly. But there was no answer.

The red-clad didn't exactly hear her. But he noticed Brittany staring at her then, quizzically, her eyes burrowing into the side of his head as if, if she stared at it hard enough, she could untangle the thoughts tumbling around inside.

Brittany called his name another time. And another.

He rolled his jellyfish-blue eyes, groaning, and swooped his titian hair to the side.

"Huh," he said, blinking rapidly as he tried to process what he just heard. He then returned her glare. "What, Britt."

She put her finger on her chin and glanced at her phone once more. "Do you think we'd look good together as a couple?" She showed him the edit and pointed at it.

He brought the phone closer to his face, staring ahead, eyes glassy.

"Gross!" he gagged and let out a dramatic, retching noise. "You look better with me." He pushed the device away without looking, and all she could hear after that were the usual sword clashes, gunshots, and explosions.

That, and the beating of her own heart throbbing like a pulsing light.
