My Precious Memories About Him

The Meeting

I met him when I was in my senior high. Bagong school, bagong classmates bagong uniform, at sa pinaka una kong araw sa school, I was being shy and reserved by nature.

I sat all alone in silent for the half of the day. The thought of having new friends didn't excite me much; in fact, hindi talaga ako pala kaibigan due to my reserved personality.

That's the time I met him.

I was eating my lunch when he came and sat beside me.

"So you are new here?" sabi niya, while taking my french fries from my box.

"Yes." sagot ko naman sa kaniya, while observing him eating my fries WITHOUT ANY PERMISSION.

"I'm on your class. You know that?"

"Yes." tipid kong sagot sa kaniya.

"So do you like our school?" tanong niya saakin.

"Yes."

"Do you know to speak any other word than 'yes'?" tanong niya saakin habang natatawa.

"Yes." sagot ko sa kaniya.

Tuluyan na siyang napatawa. Even I couldn't help, but smile.

"You're cute when you smile. Well, if you have any problems or questions, don't hesitate asking me. " malambing niyang sabi.

"Thanks."

I didn't meet him for few days. However, I saw him in the class, pero heto ako pinaiiral ko parin ang pagkamahiyain ko, well, I missed the chance of making friends to the only person who ever noticed me. Then, one day our English teacher gave us group work for some English projects and assigments, luckily he was my partner,

Instead of approaching him, pumunta muna ako sa library at kumuha ng mga refernce books para sa English Projects namin, ayaw ko kasing mag-mukha akong timang habang siya na lang lahat ang gumagawa ng trabaho.

He came to meet me in the library.

"Do you know who is your project partner is?" tanong niya.

"Yes." I replied.

"I knew your answer is going to be 'yes' as always, haha. Baka naman pwede kang magpakilala saakin before we start making these freaking requirements. " malambing niyang ngiti saakin, nakakaakit ang nigti niya.

"No. I don't---" pinutol niya ang sasabihin ko.

"Good to hear a NO from you. I thought you are the queen of all YES. Haha, ako nga pala si Prinz, you are? " sabi niya habang tumatawa.

"Charmine. Did you think about the project areas? where do you think we should work on?" I ignored the topic erlier, at nagtanong na lang ako na para bang matinong studyante.

"Nice to meet you Charmine. I think we should work on improving your communication skills and teaching you the importance of fun and humor in life. whatcha say?" sabi niya.

I give him a disapproving look.

"OK fine. I've the whole plan." excited na sabi niya.

At dun na siya nagsimulang mag-DADA ng DADA ng DADA. Well, the plan was perfect and I am very sure that our English teacher had assigned me as my partner the MOST INTELLIGENT student of the class, He's ideas and his study were both profound and classic. I was really impressed by hes deep thoughts.

After that day, we began doing our projects.

"So how do you manage it?" tanong niya.

"Manage what?"

"Manage living alone; manage a boring and unexciting and lonely life. Why don't you make friends?" tanong nanaman niya. aba pahirap na ng pahirap ang tanong niya ah.

"I do have friend."

"Really? Who's it?" tanong niya saakin habang nakangiting aso.

"Come on; we are friends, aren't we?" sabi ko sa kaniya habang nakatingin sa mga nangingislapang mga mata niya.

"Of course we are. How bout' best friends?"

"Yes." Ohh God... I used that word again, I looked at him slowly I saw him burst into a huge laugh, there he goes again.

That's how our forever friendship began.

I was happy, I enjoyed my high school life, because of him, my best friend.
