Somewhere in England, a mansion is hiding away from the crowd's eyes. A mansion covered in a bitter mix of human luxury and nature. A lonely gramophone is playing a Vera Lynn's song quietly. It's old, but the music plays loudly, almost proud of itself. The room is cold, except for a cup of hot espresso that's lying on the counter.

A man grabs the cup, stirring the coffee with a silver spoon filled with brown sugar. He sits down in a leather armchair that is in the corner of the room. The man whistles along to the song with a cheerful tone. He looks outside, the sky is clean, and an aeroplane can be seen on the horizon. A smile takes over his lips as he enjoys the peaceful morning ignoring his sister walking in.

"Damon, you're awake! Isn't it a bit too early for you?"

"I didn't sleep a lot last night."

Deetra looked at her brother worriedly and sat opposite him with crossed arms. She turned her head, wanting to see what her brother's attention was on. He was just starring outside with no cares, lost in his thoughts for one more time.

"Do you still think about Abigail?"

"That's why I couldn't fall asleep all night long."

He sipped some of his coffee, still glaring at the garden. Deetra sighed and looked down for a brief second.

"I was thinking about... leaving London for a bit with James."

"That's nice."

"Are you going to be okay on your own?"

Damon turned his chin to Deetra and looked her in the eyes, she looked more worried than usual, and he couldn't understand why.

"I'll be fine, I promise."

"It's just we've never been... far away from each other."

"Oh, I know. It would happen anyway someday."

Damon stood up and fixed his shirt. There was again silence in the room; they had nothing to talk about. Things were back to normal; there weren't any dangers on the horizon for them, or so thought. They were back at the beginning, the two of them in the mansion all alone, having only each other.

This time Damon wasn't high but drug-free. Deetra wasn't mad at her brother for not taking care of his responsibilities.

"You know what?"

"Tell me...."

Deetra raised her head, glaring at him, confused.

"Would you like to go together for lunch later?"

"Together? You and me?"

"Yes."

"Only you and me or...?"

"Only us; it's been a while since we stopped our routines and gave some attention to each other without feeling on edge."

Deetra nodded and smiled; her brother was right. The last year was a rollercoaster for both of them, and they needed to relax for a bit. Deetra would have her break along with James at some exotic island, but Damon would be stuck here, having to take care of the family business.

"That would be nice; we could do that."

"Oh, thank you so much!"

Damon smiled widely, a question popped up in Deetra's mind.

"What do you think dad would say if he saw us like that, knowing what we've been through the last year?"

He was caught off guard by his sibling's question. He brought his fingers to his chin and started thinking.

"He'd probably tell us that we're a bunch of idiots who don't know how to manage the business."

"Plus, that we don't care about it as much as he cared, hu?"

"Mhm!"

"Such a shame he isn't around..!"

Deetra giggled; Damon's eyes were back in the garden, he chuckled.

"Not really. Let me remind you that we have to meet Lazaro today."

"God, I forgot about him...."

She rolled her eyes and puffed; after the way he treated her that day with James, she didn't want to have him in front of her eyes again.

"Sorry, but we have to."

"I know, I know... Grab your jacket, and let's just go and get over it already...."

Damon laughed as Deetra stood up. He grabbed it and pushed her outside with a grin wanting to mess up with her. Of course, they fought for a bit on their way to Lazaro.

Damon and Deetra weren't the best twins in the world, but they loved each other, and that's all it mattered in the end. That was all it mattered to them, family.

Damon became a better person and helped his sister and not only.

If there's a God, they better pay off his brave heart and kindness. Because he deserves something good in his life, this time.

Damon smiled wide as he arrived outside Lazaro's house.

Finally, he was proud of himself.
