A Spark in the Darkness (a young Hook x Reader fic)

Prologue

A harsh cold breeze hit her face along with some bushes and branches from the tall, old trees as she was dashing through the forest, just a few short miles away from the Black Lagoon.

"I command you to stop!" A deep voice came from a little ways behind her, the girl only glanced back and smirked, little red scratches visibly scattered around her face as she continued running

She flipped the guy off as she looked back ahead of her she immediately stopped in her tracks, the edge of the Lagoon just inches away from her feet as she tried to stop herself from falling in.

She desperately scanned the area around her, breathing heavy and heart racing, air hitting the back of her throat harshly causing a sharp pain with each breath she took

She spotted a small opening in the trees to her left and proceeded her way through them without hesitation, not planning on stopping anytime soon again until the guard stopped chasing her.

As she was running she looked back noticing she wasn't being followed anymore but before she could turn back around she heard a clank! Followed by an extreme pain shooting up her leg then her vision went black as her head hit a large branch causing her to crash to the ground.

The sound of muffled voices could be heard as she slowly came to her senses, one voice in particular was louder than the rest.

"Well what the fuck are we gonna do with her?"

"I don't even know why you guys wanted to save her. How the hell do you think this is gonna look? We're supposed to be evil! We'll never be taken seriously as villains if people know we've taken in some rando."

"Maybe she's a villain too..?"

She slowly opened her eyes and looked around, her eyes still trying to adjust to the light

she was sat in a chair with her injured leg elevated on another, she winced as she felt the pain from her wounds return making her more alert.

"Ow" she whispered which gained the attention of the group, the sudden silence and attention on her made her uncomfortable

She looked around at the group, "uhh, who are you?" She then looked around the room, "and where the fuck am I?"

A girl with blue and green hair who was on top of the table hopped off and slowly walked over to the vulnerable girl, "we're the VKs and we could be asking you the same thing."

She snickered, "what do y'all not have your own names? And you just let this one talk for you?"

The other got closer and bent down to her level, "Who the fuck are you and where did you come from?"

The girl huffed at the attitude and crossed her arms, "if you must know, my name's Rayanna. And to be honest, I don't know what happened. I just remember running away from a guard in the forest and I don't know, tripped maybe? And now I'm here." She shrugged

"Also, quick question, are we inside a fish right now?"

The blue and green haired girl stood back up and crossed her arms as she studied the other with an unreadable expression for a moment then smiled, "I like her"

She stuck her hand out with Ray doing the same, "the names Uliana. And that's Morgie, Maleficent, Hades, and Hook"

Rayanna glanced around at them and made eye contact with Hook, the two stared at each other for a moment then Hook finally broke the silence, "take a picture darling, it'll last longer" he teased causing the rest to laugh. Ray only rolled her eyes and scoffed.

"James, help the girl out and bandage her leg." Uliana ordered smirking a little before walking off, the rest going back to doing their own thing

With Uliana bringing Ray's attention back over to her leg, the realization hit and her eyes went wide, "what the fuck? When did that happen?"

Hook rolled his eyes and walked over eyeing down the h/c haired girl who was wincing and cringing as she was examining her leg, not paying attention to the taller boy who was approaching her.

He stood by the chair, glaring as he looked her up and down almost like he was disgusted with an obvious judgmental expression as she stared back returning the same expression, "you gonna help or you just gonna stand there and judge?"

Hook grabbed a few cloths with his hook and lifted her leg up with his free hand so he could sit on the chair causing her to scrunch her nose in pain, "oww" she complained, emphasizing the 'w' "careful nitwit." She scolded

"Don't be dramatic, I barely moved it." He said as he started cleaning the blood around her wound

She watched as he did so, the hook catching her eye, "is that real? Or is it just for show?" She snickered

Hook stopped and slowly looked back up at her, "care to find out, love?" He threatened with an evil smile as he brought it close to her face, caressing the side of her soft cheek down to her chin

She looked down at it then back up at him and gently pushed it away, "I think I'm okay actually..."

He laughed and put it back down and continued to clean her leg, Ray slouched down in her chair waiting impatiently for him to be done

He threw her another cloth without looking up, "should clean up those cuts on your face there lass, you look a mess"

Ray grabbed the cloth with a small smile and began to dab it on her face as she watched as he was cleaning her leg closely examining his features.

His soft fair skin and beautiful golden brown eyes... the way he concentrated hard, slightly biting his bottom lip while being careful not to hurt her and two strands of his dark brown, wind swept hair framed his face as he looked downwards...

She didn't realize how distracted she was, almost mesmerized by the angelic look on his face when he rested his face

"I can feel you staring." He did a slight quick glance up at her causing her to snap out of her trance like state

"Sorry, you're just kinda pretty. You know, for a pirate."
