My name is Eddie. Eddie Fanih. I won’t always be known as “Eddie” or “Edward”, my real name. One day I’ll be known as “monster” or “bloodsucker”. If it weren’t for those stupid movies like “Dracula”, then us vampires would be loved. Or at least less hated. But I guess “Twilight” helped bring my kind to a more lovable level.

“I thought I told you to clean your room.” Angela said walking into my room and picking up the first pair of jeans she saw on the floor. “I thought I told you not to come in my room without knocking.” I said back not looking at her but looking at a photo book of my mom. I miss my mother. And I will never forgive myself for what I did to her. The pain is just so eternal. “Edward, don’t sass back to me.” Angela frowned.

Angela was my aunt. She thought she was my mother. And I really hate it when she tries to act like it. She could never replace her. “Then don’t come in my room.” I said standing up and snatching the pants from her hands and throwing it on the floor. I gestured towards the door for her to leave. She stared at me with almost pain in her eyes. I know its mean how I behave towards her but still. She can’t boss me around.

Angela sighed. “The scars.” She whispered. My heart skipped a beat. “Scars?” I asked her. “On Maddie’s arm. They are from you?” She asked looking at my face with sadness in her eyes. I shook my head. “No I would never hurt Maddie.” I lied. She stared then nodded and left.

How did she know about Maddie’s scars? I left my room and went to Maddie’s.

Maddie is my cousin. She’s eight years old. She had blonde hair with brown streaks in it and hazel eyes.

“Maddie.” I said walking into her room. “Did you tell Angela?” I asked furious. I bent down to grab her arm and examine the scars I have been giving her. Once every month I get hungry for human blood and if I don’t get it I go into this “trance” and I start to hurt people. Angela doesn’t know that. But to fill my hunger I go to Maddie, lie to her and say that a princess needs her blood, and I take it into my room and drink.

Maddie looked at me with fear. “I’m sorry. I had to tell her. Or she would take me to a doctor. I hate doctors.” She said. I couldn’t get mad at her. “Just next time she asks say it was the cat.” I told her. She nodded understanding and looked at her arm. “Will the princess need any more blood?” She whispered. I shrugged. “Why?” “I’m scared. It hurts when you cut me Eddie. I don’t want to give her any more blood.” I stared at her. “Maddie. The princess needs your blood. She needs it. Or bad things will happen.” I told her. She shook her head and tears met her eyes. “No Eddie, no! It hurts and I don’t want to lie to mommy anymore.  My arm hurts Eddie! It hurts. I just can’t give her any more blood.” She looked at me pleadingly. I nodded and walked out of her room.

No more blood? What am I going to do? I don’t want to hurt her or anyone else. I have to figure out a way soon to feed myself.
