“You guys are all 16 or 15 right? Well you guys going through puberty you are going to have urges and these urges may become needs.” Mr. Benson explained to the class. He has no idea. And I don’t think anyone in this class is 16 yet. I’m 15 I know that. The bell rang and the students spilled into the hallways carrying me with them.

I slipped into the bathroom before going to lunch. Human food is gross. But I have to eat it. I looked into the mirror. All I could see was an unexplainable monster. A threat of human kind. All I could think about is what that girl did to me, turned me into a monster. I brushed my fingers through my black silky hair and pushed it back before I turned the sink on and rinsed my face. My blue eyes looked a little electrified if you might say. I was hungry. Wait, it couldn’t possibly be that time of the month. My fangs slowly pushed out of my gums waiting for a meal. No. Not now. I’m usually ready. I’m not ready.

I walked out of the bathroom and headed for the exit. As I passed the office I saw Angela standing in front of the desk. Her face looked sad. She had been crying. I walked into the office and Angela looked at me. “Maddie. Where’s Maddie?” She burst into tears and put her arms around me. Maddie was missing? What? “Angela what are you talking about?” I asked. “I can’t find Maddie. I went to pick her up from school for her doctor’s appointment and they said she hadn’t come to school today. I went to all her friend’s house but they didn’t see her. I don’t know where she is.” I looked at Angela’s eyes. Seriousness and pain scattered through them. I whispered in her ear. “I have to eat and then I’ll go look for Maddie.” She looked at me and nodded.

We walked out the school and Angela said, “Bill next door went hunting this weekend. Maybe you can get into his shack and steal some animal blood.” “Um, okay.” I replied. It would have to do for now.

After finished eating I headed out to look for Maddie. I checked the school, park, candy store, her friend’s house, everywhere. No Maddie. I was getting frustrated. “Maddie!” I yelled. No reply.

I decided to head home to get Angela to start driving me around town. On the way I heard a scream. It came from an abandoned house on the corner of my street. The house just yelled “come in to die”. But that could be Maddie so I walked up on the porch and entered the broken down door.

I heard slurping sounds suddenly. I followed the noise to the bathroom. In the tub was a dead body, and standing over it was a girl with red hair and blood on her mouth. Her. “Hey get away from her!” I yelled stepping towards the murderous vampire. “Don’t move.” I heard a voice behind me say. I turned around to see a girl with a long silver knife in her hand. I turned around and the red head vampire was gone. I turned back around. The girl had brown skin and black hair. She wore blue jean shorts and a red tank top. “It’s not what it looks like.” I said. “Who was your friend bloodsucker?” She asked. She gestured for me to get on my knees. She came behind me with the knife in position for self-defense. She kicked my back and I feel to the floor. “Please. I don’t know who she was. I swear.” I stated. “Mhm. Sure. What’s your name?” She asked. She searched my pockets. What was this? “Who are you?” I asked. She moved her lips near my ears. “Your worst nightmare honey.” She whispered.  “Okay you’re crazy! Let me go! I didn’t do anything! I came into this house because I heard a scream and I find this dead body and this girl sucking the life out of her! I’m having a bad day so do you mind being a generous person and letting me go?” I couldn’t see her face but I could feel her eyes staring at me. She moved her foot off of my back and helped me up. “Sorry,” She apologized looked at the floor. “I thought you were the bad guy.” “Well I’m not.” I snapped. I looked her and she gave me this look. It looked like the look Maddie would give me when she was really sorry about something. “I’m sorry.” I said. She smiled a little and headed towards the door. “Excuse me? Do you mind telling me who you really are?” She looked at me. “Abbey. I’m Abbey the vampire slayer.”
