Kendall sighed as she put her phone face down on the counter. Another text from her ex, and it only annoyed her. At this point, she didn't know if she even missed her. The endless text messages sent her over the edge, and only got annoyed when her name would pop up. Kendall stopped replying a week ago, after she had talked to Kate at the campus coffee shop. She had better things to worry about and more people to please.

"Ken, are you curling your hair tonight?" asked Charlotte, her fellow senior teammate who was getting ready with her in the apartment. The upperclassmen on the soccer team all got apartments to themselves on campus, which made Kendall thankful she was finally a senior.

"No, I think I'm just going to straighten it," said Kendall, grabbing her hair iron from a drawer. Kendall was already dressed in a plain white tube top, and loose blue jeans. Being dirty blonde she felt obligated to wear gold jewelry, and it was the only metal she wore. That being her necklace her mother Jill got her, her small gold hoops, and her various chunky rings. "Who is hosting by the way?"

"Mmm, I heard Liv saying that one of the basketball guys asked one of the frats to use their backyard," shrugged Charlotte, who sat on the counter next to Kendall while she was straightening her hair. "Apparently he's pretty known and a big shot here on campus. So it was easy for him to get it."

Kendall scoffed. "I know I somewhat have a history of lineage here at Iowa, but I don't abuse it."

Charlotte chuckled, "I agree. Not your fault that you and your sister are talented. Along with your aunt coaching."

"They're cool, I guess," laughed Kendall, finishing straightening her hair and unplugging it from the wall. "I think I'm ready to go, is everyone else going separate?"

Charlotte nodded, jumping down from the counter and following Kendall to the kitchen where they gathered their small wallets they had specifically for when they went out. Which was rare, considering they were athletes and they were constantly busy. But also in the offseason they avoided partying most of the time, with the worry of public image to themselves and the teams they represent. Both Charlotte and Kendall agreed to stay sober tonight, but they didn't know about everyone else. Alcohol being at the event was inevitable, and only knew her teammates and the other athletes would indulge in it.

Kendall only took her phone, and the thin wallet that had her ID, school ID, and her credit card just in case. It was tucked in the front pocket of her loose blue jeans. The two would be walking, as the sorority and frat row was only a two minute walk. Kendall noticed several people were walking along the direction of frat and sorority row, and all were athletes she recognized.

Charlotte and Kendall were walking, arms linked. The nightly breeze of Iowa casted a form of comfort to the two, as they roamed the streets of campus.

"You excited?" asked Charlotte with a giddy smile. "Trying to find someone tonight? I mean, it is the first athlete social of the year."

Kendall only chuckled, sending Charlotte a sarcastic smile. "No, not even. I'm just going to this to get some fun, Char. Plus, it's like one of the only things during the year where it's only the athletes."
