Days blurred into weeks and weeks into months. I was gradually setting in the mold of normalcy, yet the ominous voice of ghazi lingered at the back of my head."You have no idea what you've involved yourself in."
Those words echoed in my mind, sending a persistent chill down my spine. They haunted me, making me believe that things aren't as nice as they seem. Our encounter was a beginning of something far more sinister.
As time wore on, I tried to convince myself that it was all just my overthinking.
"No one is coming after me" I whispered to myself as I emerged through the dark alley.
Approaching my apartment, I noticed a black car. It has been there for days, its occupants changing frequently.
I bolted inside my apartment and drew the curtains, lacking the courage to confront anyone.
Making chai in the kitchen was only normal thing in my life when a loud knock startled me.
Remaining silent, I creeped towards the door, but before I could reach it, it was violently kicked open, and a terrified scream tore from my throat.
A man pointed the gun at me, I was rooted at my spot, my entire body going numb as I faced my end.
Someone yanked the man away and shook me. "Are you alright?" I blinked, finding Ghazi's intense gaze locked onto mine, his hands gripping my shoulders with a fierce urgency.
His eyes cold and unyielding, I trembled uncontrollably. "How did you know?" I whispered, my voice barely audible.
"I knew you were in danger since the moment you left the place, I have been watching over you" his voice held a mix of protectiveness and anger.
"Watching me?" I looked at him in disbelief,
"For your safety," he insisted
"Why are they targeting me?" I asked, my voice quivering,
"They are coming for you because of me," his expression darkening with a heavy gravity.
"But we don't even know each other," I replied, searching his eyes for answers.
"You saved me. I fucking told you to stay out of it," he said, his grip on my shoulders intensifying.
