When the father, daughter and charge (son) enter the living room, they sit side by side on a sofa near the fireplace, where firewood burn.

“How about we read a book of fairy tales?”

Phileo asks Leonia as she receives the book from the maid. The title of the book is ‘Life is Meaningless.’

Obviously, he purchased a full copy of the most popular children’s fairy tale book and place it in their room, but Adlyn and Leonia protest that it was boring.

“It’s childish.”

"Illogical fiction."

“That’s what kids of your ages should read.”

“We’ve read it all anyway.”

Leonia and Adlyn whine and she opens the book.

Phileo raises one of his brows in astonishment.

It is difficult to believe she had read all of that considering her age and her background as an orphan, yet Leonia seemed to be able to do it with ease.

“Where did you get that book?”

“From the Duke’s study room. You told me we could read anything.”

“Why did you take this book?”

"I recommend it to her."

“Based on my experience, life is truly meaningless.”

"Even though you live hard, if you sprain at some time, all is finished," the boy sighs like a wise old man.

“Do you miss your biological parents?”

Phileo misunderstands the sigh and asks warily. Leonia blinks her round eyes at the sudden query as she turned her head away from the book.

“Mister.”

It wasn’t long before she made an unexpected response.

“I have no idea who my biological parents are.”

Phileo’s eyes have languidly relaxed until he hears her reply. They widens and contracts at tense.

“I don’t remember anything before I went to the orphanage.”

Phileo, feeling the heaviness of his body due to the depressing subject, leans on the sofa. He takes a careful glance at Leonia’s face.

The skinny child’s face gained weight each day, and it was much healthier than the first time he saw it, so it looked good.

“Then do you want to see your parents?”

“No.”

The child refused without hesitation.

“My parent is Mister now.”

“….”

“And-”

“And-”
