"Why did you stop the car?" I inquire, but he remains silent.
As far as I can tell, he doesn’t seem like a bad person but these days girls can’t even trust their own relatives and he is still a stranger.
He gazes at me as if I have committed a crime. What? Is he really a human? Or some djinn? God !
"What happened? Did I say something wrong?" I ask once more.
His lack of response made me recite a prayer for protection in my mind.
"Eijaz?"
"Eijaz !?" I call again, concerned by the way he's staring me. It’s not a repulsive look, but something peculiar, something only he seems to understand.
"Yes,"he nods, clearly still caught off guard.
Scary!
His eyes reflect a blend of disbelief and something more profound. They are intense, almost frightening, yet they bring me a sense of calm, like finding shade under a tree in a desert. Doesn't make sense, right? I know.
For some reason, I feel as if I have known these eyes for longer than I can remember.
"EIJAZ... what’s going on?" I ask again, raising my voice and waving my hand in front of his face.
Gradually, he begins to blink, as if trying to dispel a haze,"H-How do you know my birthday?" he whispers, his voice barely audible.
