I stared up into space as I was supposed to listen to the lesson. I was currently in class, in english? I don't know if I wasn't listening. I was playing Snake in my mind when I was hit in the head with a small chunk of chalk. I let out a hiss as the classroom filled with quiet and loud laughter.
I let out a groan as I stare forward to see the teacher looking over at me with an annoyed look on their face while having an extended arm towards me. "I would appreciate if you'd actually paid attention in my class Jamie." The teacher said while the other students continued to giggle and laugh.
I let out a sigh as I rubbed the spot on my forehead that connected with the chalk. "Sorry sir..." I said in a monotone voice. That made him go back to teaching. I just rolled my eyes as I stared at the chalkboard. Not interested in what is being taught, but because I don't wanted to get hit again. I continued to play mental Snake as the class period went on without me participating in it.
The class ended and it was time to go home. I let out a yawn as I stretched before getting up. I started to pack up my things when a person started to walk up to my desk, I looked over from the corner of my eye to see a familiar pink and redhead coming over to me, practically skipping as she made it to my desk. Her name is Jewel, she's my partner and friend. We do everything together: work, school, the works.
I let out an amused breath as I zipped up my bag and looked over at her. "Now what has gotten you into a mood?" I ask as I slung my bag over my shoulder. I was then pulled in close to her by my tie so we could understand each other as we whispered. "We got a job!" She said in a hushed whisper before letting out a slight squeal.
I let out an amused breath as I let out a slight smile. "Don't you mean a commission?"
"Either or, it is a way for us to make some money during school." I said as I stood back up. My body practically looming over her body from our height difference.
"So... Your place and takeout?" Jewel asked as she stood next to me. I rolled my eyes as we started walking.
"Let me guess, I'm paying for that too?" I say as I look down at her.
"I mean, we could try cooking again." She said thoughtfully as she walked beside me before looking over and giving me a grin, "You want me to cook for you again?" She asked in a teasing voice.
I let out a breathy chuckle before stopping abruptly. "No. Never again." I say. As I look at her from the corner of my eye.
"Come on, it wasn't so bad~" Jewel said in a singsong voice as she took a couple of steps in front of me.
"Baby, you almost burnt down my house." I say as I walk behind you with a mix of concern and annoyance on my face.
"It was an accident!" She said as she looked back at me with a pouty face,
"And you're still banned from cooking in my kitchen." I say as I pull her back to me from sliding my hand around her waist as I guide her towards the main doors of the school.
We then walked out of school and strolled around town for a bit, getting snacks, drinks, and some games and movies for us to watch and play. We were walking home from the convenience store that was near my house. I was drinking a soda while holding the bag filled with our stuff and my school bag. While Jewel was holding her school bag and was eating an icecream.
I pushed the door open with my foot as Jewel walked in first, I then pushed the door closed behind me before setting the bags down on the table. I let out a sigh as I let out a stretch before walking over to Jewel who was on the couch scrolling through her phone with her bag next to her. I took it from her and set it near the door with mine.
I then unbuttoned my shirt a bit as I walked back to the kitchen to put away the snacks. "What you think the commission is about?" Jewel said from the living room. I looked up from the corner of my eye to see that she was hanging on the back of the couch, head upside down as she looked at me.
"Beats me.." I said as I took out the drinks from the bag, "If they contacted us, it must be some sort of hacking gig? Or maybe some blackmail?" I say as I threw away the trash bags.
"Well, that is right up your alley, but..." Jewel pauses for a moment before jumping off of the couch with the stick of the popsicle in her hand, "There won't be anything for me to do during this time. Other than playing games and watching tv while you work." She said, I could hear the disappointment in her voice.
I grabbed one of the sodas from the counter and walked behind her, pressing the cold surface on the back of her neck, making her let out a squeal and looking back at me with a pout on my face.
"Meanie.." She said as she snatched the can out of my hands. I let out a smile before putting my hands in my pockets.
"So, shall we get started?"
